Well some of you know that my parents have been struggling to come to terms with my choice of spouse (I'm marrying a woman incase you don't know!) and it's been a subject left unsaid for long enough. We've set out date for 31.12.2016 so I fbed my mother telling her but got no reply and when I did all I got was 'yes I think that date is free' with no congrats or anything so I emailed my Dad to see if I'd get any response and success!!! I said we've set the date for then and would he like to walk me down the aisle? To which I got the following response: "Great to hear from you. It would give me the greatest pleasure to walk you up the aisle and I would have been seriously miffed if you hadn’t asked me!!" He then said it would be great for us and the parents to meet at some point to discuss what we are planning, work out monies together and show them what we are thinking so we should arrange that for sometime next year.... I promptly burst into tears and couldn't be happier!!! I thought they didn't care and didn't want to know but they've FINALLY shown some much wanted interest at long last All day I've been walking on air and been celebrating! My mother may be taking her time but my Dad wants to know and this is a massive step in the right direction. Also means my Mum doesn't have a leg to stand on anymore (hypothetically!) as she's the last one left being a twazzock!!! *Tentatively gets out the bunting and booze to celebrate!*

I KNOW!!! I knew he was above all that crap but maybe it took yet another olive branch from me and to NOT have my dearest mama be around but whatever it was, I'm thankful for it!!!!!!!! Thank god there's one sane person in the family

YAYAYAY!! that is wonderful news!!! It is so nice when at least one of your parents actually shows some interest. My mother although she is happy I am getting married, has emphatically told me she wont even help set up the day before. Kind of bursting my little bubble of happiness because I can foresee now what is going to happen. She will arrive the day before and complain I'm not spending time with her (because we will all be chipping in and setting places up and decorating both the ceremony and reception venues) then she will emotionally blackmail me because she has "traveled all this way and I haven't got a minute for her". My response on the phone to her when she said she wouldn't be helping with anything was, "Well, if you want to see me on the Friday but not help, you'll have to just sit in the corner in the hall and watch me. Because Im going to be busy as *insert swear word here* lol" I am hoping that is enough to stop her from saying anything, but knowing my mum...doubt it. So I am glad your Dad has come through for you and has the enthusiasm you need! Mine has too and he is the only thing stopping me from just eloping!! xxx
