Hi, am a newbie and would like some advice on my wedding cake. Was wondering if anyone knew of a company that does gluten free wedding cakes? Am I expecting too much to ask for someone to do a small tier of a gluten free cake and the rest normal? I do not want to miss out on having some wedding cake and nor do my children who also suffer coeliac disease (lord knows we have had to sacrifice everyones birthday cakes etc) but at the same time I do not want my guests to be forced to eat gluten free if they don't want to!! So you see my dilemna?? Any advice will be truly welcomed, TIA guys x

I'm sure you can have the top tier of the cake to suit you. My cake has 8 little cakes around the bottom (pics on my profile), if you did something like this you could make a few of them gluten free for you and the kids. Hope this helps x

ANY cake supplier should be able to do gluten free tier or full cake.

My H2B and his Mum and one of our guests are Coeliac so it's important to have it.

So our cake will be 3 tier sponge with the top tier being gluten free.

TBH Gluten free cakes are nice - I make em at home a lot - the only down side is they can be sugary. :)

Thanks to you all, Kimi, that is what I was thinking. Have asked a couple of suppliers and they have looked at me like some diva?!
I too enjoy GF cakes and make them at home, its not a choice lol its a neccesity, im not just akward (honest!) Maybe I am just looking at the wrong suppliers and need 2 broaden my search. Pennylane, also a good idea, my baking skills are limited, tastes good, looks lousy lol

yeah the cake makers I have been looking at all do gluten free. So you should have no problem. I would get the biggest tier gluten free for you and your family and your guests can have the rest!

Your in Merseyside not too far from me - Most of the suppliers I looked at were in Wigan or worked from home - keep asking or make it simpler and ask for WHEAT/GLUTEN FREE. Can sometimes help.

I've sent a request and can send you links of suppliers I contacted if you like :)

If they don't do it you can supply the flour and they will do it for you. Also I have it on good authority that the best gluten free cake is chocolate sponge otherwise the cake is dry and heavy. Hope that helps xxx

Ok I know this goes against the grain (sorry couldn't help the pun) But I read that gluten free cakes taste bleugh! I have found a recipe that uses ground almonds instead of the nasty free flour

I owe all this wonderful knowledge to a lady called Kate Shirazi from whom I purchased a book about cup cakes

    4 large free range eggs
    175g castor sugar
    225g ground almonds
    1tsp baking powder
    1 tsp cream of tartar
    12 cherries (glace)

    200C/400F/Gas 6 - 20 mins

    beat egg yolks & sugar
seperate bowl - whisk egg whites till stiff
    fold into egg/sugar mix
fold in rest of dry ingredients
put mixture into bun cases - push 1 cherry into each

15-20 mins later you should have lovely buns that wont upset your sensitive tums. Apparently burnt almonds don't taste good.
Decorate with lemon glace icing, and get creative making a cherry for the top.

Any more for anymore - I like to make something out of nothing lol.xx

I used to make them for a friend all the time. I could barely tell the difference. You just switch the flour you use! Dont see why there should be any problem at all
