I wear glasses. I wear them pretty much every day because I'm short sighted. Not like walking-into-doors short sighted, but anything more than a few metres away goes from high definition to standard definition and I can get headaches if I don't wear my glasses for a couple of days. It's worse when I go outside and I have been known to not wear them on my days off if I'm just puttering around the house but not longer than that. I can't wear contact lenses because of my astigmatism and they irritate my eyes. So I have a quandary: on the day, do I wear my glasses or not? I'm not sure which I prefer. I've uploaded pictures of me with and without glasses (but also no makeup so it will look a little different.)

    What are your thoughts?

I have an astigmatism and I wear contacts just fine. Maybe you could go for some trials and find a brand that you're more comfortable in? I think you should go with what you prefer but straining your eyes and getting a headache on your big day would be a pain.

I think I'm gonna get contacts for the wedding...

I didn't start wearing glasses til a couple of years ago and whenever I've imagined my big day,I haven't been wearing glasses xx

But its just a personal choice thing..my eyesight sooo rubbish that I literally can't see anything more than five six feet away, it's just a blur, so going without is not an option for me xx

I wear glasses for work and after originally just wearing them if my eyes were tired, I'm finding I'm wearing them longer and longer each day. I dont intend to wear them on the day, for me I think they'll take away from the look I want to achieve. I've never really thought about getting contacts before because i've only recently started to rely on my glasses more but I might get contacts for the wedding, just to make sure I can see everything, that I'm not straining my eyes, and that my astigmatism is corrected for the day lol x

I have the same issue as you, a few days without and I know about it. I don't intend to wear mine for most of the day (ceremony onwards) , but they'll probably go on for most of the evening. That way, I don't think I'll suffer too much.

I have astigmatism too and I wear contacts. I've had glasses since I was 14 and over the years had to wear them more and more. I'm actually asking my optician for some dailies or those monthlies you don't take out for the wedding day. Last thing I want on my wedding night is spending 5 mins in the bathroom cleaning my contacts.

I have worn glasses since i was a t Junior school and started with contacts 12 years ago and although i do wear my glasses most of the time i do love my contacts (was looking into eye laser before got engaged but cant afford to buy our house, a wedding and eye laser). I also have astigmatism and yes i have had to try several different types of contacts to find ones that are confortable for me.

Like Ziggyboo says if you are comfortable with wearing your glasses than its fine but although my H2B is use to seeing me in my galses i wouldnt feel confident or happy to wear them on my wedding day.

Speak to your option and see what he recomments and try different ones there are lots out there for astigmatism and also it my be worth trying different solutions i have had problems with solutions not the contacts!

    Good luck x

I've been wearing glasses since I was 2. I'm long sighted and I have astigmatism but I'm definitely going to be wearing contacts on my wedding day. Oh and Princess2be, contacts can't get lost in your eye so you're completely safe with them! You do whatever is comfortable for you =] x x

Princes to be you can have either.

Dailys as it says you have one pair for each day of the month (or as many as you think you will need if think only going to wear them at weekends just have 8 sets a month for example or if going to wear them every day then have 30 sets a month)
Monthly you open them on the 1st of the month (or when ever you start them) and put them in when you want and after the month you throw them away and open new ones (there is cleaning etc required with monthlys not just a case of stick them in and thake them out each day)
Usually you are supply with a 3 month, i would say it does depend on what lenses you have to if dailys or monthly are better mine work out cheaper on monthly than daily x

Monthlies are cheaper and you can wear them for more hours in the day than you can with dailies. I was told not to wear dailies for more than 8 hours but my monthlies I can wear for 12 hours.

You can get cleaning agents for monthlies now that you don't have to clean by hand by they have to be in the case for at least 6 hours before you can put them in! Cleaning them by hand doesn't take long though I probably don't spend more than a minute on each one.

There's a lot more options for contacts these days :)

Princess2be the best thing to do is pop to your option they will be able to advise you properly.
Suppose in one way its like beauty products some people rave about one brand but other can use it.

If the optiotion give you trials and you dont get on with them dont be disheartened try another set i think i am on my 5th different brand since i started wearing them 2 years ago and even then i had one type i used for 5 years was so comfortable and could wear them ALL day (to work then out in evening) but one day put them in and irrated like made so had to change to different brand and type.

Hope you can find something x

I also have astigmatism, am as blind as a bat, and I wear contacts. I did find I needed to get a more expensive brand in order to feel comfortable, but I figure you only have one pair of eyes....!
If you're definitely not comfy in contacts then I would consider at least bringing your specs. You could take them off for photos if you wanted but I personally hate that feeling of not really being able to see everyone clearly, so I would rather have them there just for security!!

And Mrs Brammer to be is right, taking them out is the blinkin impossible bit sometimes!!

I have astigmatism and I wear contacts too. I would recomend going to opticians and having a chat. i wear continuous wear which means I sleep in mine and take them out for 2/3days a month while I wear glasses then put a fresh pair in. I have been doing this for 7 yrs or so and no probs. Have been wearing glasses long term since I was about 15/16. I love my contacts and would never go back to glasses full time. Hoping to have eye surgery in next few yrs.

Well I went to the opticians today and they said I can't get daily's because of my prescription (it's really strong) so I'm gonig to go to another company. But if I can't get daily's I will just get one lot of monthly's for the big day x x

I have an astigmatism too and I now wear dailies. I did have the fortnightly ones but wasn't wearing them too much so I switch to dailies and I use about 4 pairs a month. I have to use the johnsons moist ones though as the standard ones were too irritating.

See you optician and most do a trial now xx

KirstyJ22- When I had dailies I felt the prescription I had wasn't strong enough so I had to switch to monthlies because they just don't make dailies in anything higher than +4.50 and mines a +4.75. (if I remember rightly)

    I'm seriously long sighted lol.

Both me and my h2b wear glasses as we're both short sighted (his slightly worse than mine). I kept thinking about this as I didn't want my face to be taken up to much as I have thick dark rimmed frames and I was also worried about the reflection on them. However after speaking to my make-up artist, photographer and even investing in a lovely pair of thin metal frames from a well known opticians at a cheap price, I am going to be me and where mine for the whole day........ just the lady my h2b fell in love with x

having contacts. really nervous about it actually as i have Ommetaphobia. which is a fear of anything going near your eye. I have been diagnosed with gluecoma recently aswel and it took them over an hour to do what should have been a 15 min appt.
My glasses look terrible on me though and i hate wearing them. but i can hardly see aything without them :s x

I think I'm definitely going for contacts, I want to start using them anyway as after two years of wearing specs I don't feel like I look like 'me' anymore...didn't need them until the ripe old age of twenty three lol! If I'd worn them all my life I would probably wear them on my wedding day though xx
