We give notice in just under 2 hours! I am starting to feel nervous and excited. I know that they may ask us questions about each other and all that, but am wondering if there is anything else i should be expecting? Also is it today that we discuss our music choices or do we do that at a later date? Do we get choices of vows etc today as well? or is that also at a later date?
Sorry for so many questions, like i said am excited and also nervous so am blabbering. lol.

Its the registrar that will be marrying us where we are giving notice. I think thats why im confused coz am unsure about whether we even need to pick the certificate up as we dont have to take it anywhere if you know what i mean?
CommentAuthorRags
Oooh I have to do this soon, hadn't really given it much thought. Surely so soon in advance they can't expect us to know what we are going to have music wise and words wise!
I'm now a married woman
I have a gorgeous husband
Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do
oh lol, hmmm strange!!!! either way u wont get ya cert straight away as they have to post ur intention 2 marry 2 the public on a board so the pubic have 15days to contest it, im not sure tho if ud discuss everything 2day tho hunny, y dont u give em a quick ring or go prepared anyway hun x x x

wow thats exciting - what type of questions do you get asked? xx
CommentAuthorshellay
when we went, they didnt really ask many questions, just date of births, where our partners work and job titles, it was very relaxing really, and our registrar was lovely, and we managed to have a laugh and a joke with her, it was really nice, nothing to get stressed about at all, we cannot wait till we go to our final meeting in June to finalise all the minor details, like music, readings and vows etc, our registrar has been so helpful, she emails me straight back when i ask her all the silly questions :) x
I have know my soulmate for 27 years and on the 6th August
I married him and became Mrs Garnham.
It was most definitely the happiest day of my life.
I love married life !!!!

Oh i know about the 15 day thing, thats fine, and we probably will go prepared anyway as if we are prepared and know what we want then if its up for discussion now it would save us AND THE REGISTRAR time :D I was just after knowing what to expect, i shall wing it and play it by ear.

My only advice is don't wear tights! I never wear skirts/dresses and the one day I did (for giving notice - thought I should make a bit of an effort!) I get a massive ladder running from the top right down just passed the knee! Didn't have time to change them and I hadn't shaved my legs so had to go with the flow! Hope it goes well for you - there's really nothing to worry about though Hx

Thankyou everyone for your comments and advice yesterday. Thought i would update with how it went. Well we got there, and the lady was very nice, we sat in her office and she first asked h2b his surname, date of birth and job title, and then my surname date of birth and job title. She asked him his fathers name and profession and for proof of address and passport. Then she asked me the same questions about him as well. We both had to sign that the details were correct and those notices will be displayed for 15 days. Then we had to pay £67 notice fee. We dont have to worry about collecting our certificate though as we are getting married in that district by those registrars so they will keep it in their records for us. We were given a planning book, including our choices of the welcome, the introduction, vows etc..... we were able to pick what we wanted to be said in our ceremony. It also contained a big selection of various different readings. We have to book another appointment but not till about 6 weeks before the wedding to pay the balance and go over the planning etc....
We have already chosen what we want said, we were very lucky and agreed on it all so was quite a quick process. We have decided on 3 readings and all our music so basically the ceremony is good to go.

Thanks for this. Michael and I met up with our Pastor yesterday, he's marrying us. I didn't realise that we had to give notice until recently and I did wonder what it entailed. We live in different districts at the moment, but we're getting married at mine. Would Michael have to come with me? Xxx

I think you both have to give notice in your respective authorities, but I could be wrong...Hx

I think I am going to pop in to the place where I need to give notice today to ask them about it. It helps just to make sure. :)

When we gave notice I got completely grilled as my surname got changed a couple of times as a child, despite the fact I had all the documents
Now Mrs Cobb!!!!!! :-D
CommentAuthorMrs Davro
Having just read kaya's post does that mean I need my birth certificate? Changed my name few years ago but everything except school stuff and birth certificate in new name.

I can't find my birth certificate, I had it out for something or other and where it is now I don't know :/ Will my passport be enough? I had a name change as a child but I've been married before (at a church) and there was no problem then. I have my decree nisi or whatever it's called.
I don't know what to do re music, do you have to have any? What do they play it on? Do you have to bring it in for them and how if so?? :/ :/
Finally Mrs Grove :)
