Hi Just been to give notice wasn't half as bad as I thought it might be!! They asked name address and occupation and fathers details. Got info on the choices of the script for the ceremony pretty exciting!! Thought I would post as a few threads have been on this

It's easier than you think isn't it!! I got a bit nervous before we went but there was absolutely nothing to be worried about at all - and we loved looking through the script options for the ceremony too. The registrar was very relaxed and pleasant too :-)

How long did it take to get an appointment? We're hoping to give notice in the half term week as long as there's space for us

Oooh I can't remember to be honest - couple of weeks I think. I suppose it depends how busy they are

We picked our appointment based on when we were available (and had the money to pay them the £70 for giving notice). I got the impression we could have gone the same week though.
Oh that should be fine then hopefully :) Just thought id ask incase it was a weeks in advance kinda booking x

Just to add, we gave notice in last winter. I'm not sure if appointment times might vary with demand.

This is something i've been a little worried about but I can do the question part I think, just confused with scripts for the ceremony? Would i need to know/choose that day what I want to say and how about the music choices, do I need to take this with me and get everything sorted that day? or do have a 2nd meeting?
Sorry for the questions, just getting myself concerned over this bit x

I booked it online had to wait a few weeks for an available slot. They give you a choice of the scripts you don't have to choose as you are not allowed any religious content you just go away with the booklet and choose which ones you want was quite fun for us to together :) you don't do anything with music the venue sorts that (depending where you are getting married ) as long as there is nothing religious in the songs they give you a booklet of songs and readings to choose from. Hope that helps :)

Hi JoD96. The borough that will be conducting our ceremony sent us a booklet with a tearout section we had to send back, choosing our vows from a selection (both compulsory & optional ones). We also had to fill in a section with our chosen music, names of witnesses, name of person walking with you down the aisle (if applicable), and bridesmaids (again if applicable). We also had to provide our fathers names and professions.
I found the hardest bit was picking all of the music (guest entrance, bride entrance, signing the register, bride & groom exit, guests exit)
