So today we went to the local registry office and gave notice of intent to marry! Now it really does feel real. So we've got to wait til 1st August for the confirmation and then will get the pack through from the registrar!

Was really nervous when they split us up - worried what questions they would ask, but it was really straightforward..

    Another big thing done

thanks all. yep sure is daunting - my h2b has got a rubbish memory so was panicking he'd forget something! He said though she didnt ask him many questions and just got him to confirm yes/no my answers! Must be used to the males forgetting!

HappyBunny our council suggest you do it between 1 month before to 12 months before as the licences only last for one year and for your specific venue xx

    Sorry everyone logged off yesterday!

They asked me - date of birth, address, ever married before etc, then his date of birth, address. Both our professions with what sort of company. Oh and my dads name and profression. Asked for id to prove name and id to prove address. It was pretty straightforward.oh and date, time and location of the wedding.

You can give notice anytime as long as its less than 12 months before (its only valid for 12 months).

I was asking neil the questions on the way in the car to make sure he knew! Xx

fab, thanks for the info Helen! Was beginning to think we needed to revise!!! Didn't realize you could go for it up to 12 months before. My H2B works seasonally, so we might try and get it done before he finishes the season in November.

If you are getting married in Scotland it works differently and you can't give notice until 3 months before the wedding

I'm giving notice at an entirely different registry office to that of my H2B... due to where we're both from and where our permanent addresses are... his is base, mine is back home... its weird!

Anyway, am not worried. Just don't want to have to pay!

There's nothing to worry about :) and no I didn't want to pay, that £70 could have been put to better use elsewhere! lol. Its nice to now have the booklet to choose readings and vows and so on and so on. 1.30pm 12/07/14 officially booked :)

I was given the pack on the day of giving notice, we then went for a meal in local pub and the booklet came in with us! lol. Trouble is with me is I keep jumping from one thing to another with the things that need sorting and i'm stressing myself to much doing so!! An excited stress! lol. xx

Oh god this sounds scary lol! I thought you just turned up paid and left lol! Is there anything else you need to do legally apart from the banns readings before the wedding? Do we both just go to our local registry office to where we live or where we grew up? All this official stuff is confusing! x
