I wear glasses- nice thick lenses and everything! But I'm going with contact lenses as well. I've had daily disposables since I was 14 (I did do a brief stint with monthlies, but I kept nearly binning them too early so I got the dailies back).
I'm having an appointment soon to trial those lenses that you can sleep in. I hope they work out because they'll be a real time saver. Especially on the wedding day when I'll have to be at the venue, a good 45 minute drive (an hour with my dad's old-man style of driving), by 9.30am. Any other early morning and I'll just stick my glasses on, but not for my wedding. I'm too vain to risk looking like my auntie in the photos (I really do look like my aunt in my glasses, not a good thing considering she's 25 years older than me).
Also I don't want to risk them flying off during the first dance. Or any of the dancing.

I wear glasses. I'm considering getting contacts for the wedding day, but I've never worn them before. What are they like? And what would you recommend? xx

I use soft lenses- they're very comfortable as long as you don't get anything caught in them or try to take them out when your eyes are dry. However my best friend/MoH swears by hard lenses. Although I think they're harder to take out. It's all down to personal preference.

no squinting is not a good look, I hate not being able to see people at a distance, especially when they start moving there lips mouthing something! You can only just make out who they are let alone what they are trying to mouth to you ha

I wear daily disposable contact, and always have a couple of spares with me, and eye drops - I get drops in little plastic tubes which are about 5ml each, so they last longer than if I had to open a whole bottle every time I wore them. And they are tiny little things so really easy to carry around.

it is easier to get them out than out in! they will make you practise in the optician to make sure you can do it.

just make sure you are in a well lit room with a big mirror and take your time until you are used to them xx

I have to wear glasses all the time but i wear contacts for special occasions and will be on my wedding day too. I hate wearing glasses and think they take away from the effort ive made with my make up etc. Ive also in the past spent ages doing my hair only to put my glasses on and find it looked completely different! My cousin wore her glasses to her wedding and i thought that although she looked nice, it was all you could focus on, i suppose it depends on the frames and how you feel about wearing them, but personally id opt for contacts. xx

It takes a few tries to get it right, but soon you'll be able to get them in and out really easily. I used to be really bad about letting anything touch my eye and I got there in the end.

The key is not to panic- if you panic, they'll be harder to remove/put in. If you can't do it, just give yourself a few minutes and then try again.

No way jose- Glasses for me all the way... Nothing is coming anywhere near my eyes!

Did consider laser eye surgery a couple of years back but don't know if it's worth it just so I can see on rollercoasters and at the hairdressers as apart from these two occasions I don't find my glasses a hindrance. Been wearing them since I was 9 so 20 years now! OMG am I really THAT old!! hehe

I wear glasses and have done since i was about 12, h2b met me wearing glasses and although i have attempted to wear contacts i just can't as i want to rip my eyeballs out when they're in. Did contemplate taking them off for photos, but as they are a part of me and who i am i've decided to keep them on.........Not only that i don't want to be squinting in the photos as i can only see shapes without glasses on.

Think i will purchase a nice new pair for the day though - any excuse to get new glasses lol x

i would go now! you will need a new eye test they will then check your eye are healthy by looking at the back of your eye using a machine and under your eye lid! you dont even feel it. just doesnt sound nice.

they will put orange dye in your eye to help them look better.

they will then discuss what contacts are best for you depending on how often and how long you will wear them for.

they will show you how to put them in, then check to make sure it sits properly on your eye.

they will asso do a lesson woth you to teach you to put in and take out.

send you home and you will need to go back after about 2 weeks when you have had them in for 2 hours to make sure they are comfy!

reason i say go now is it does take a bit of getting used to and when you are stressing about putting them in it does make it harder so you want as much time as poss to get used to them.

    hope this helps xx

I wear glasses as does most of my family and the h2b's family. I will be wearing mine on my big day but I expect my mum will take hers off for photos. Talking of photos, i'll ask the photographers when we go see some. Another note in the notebook :)

If you need glasses wear them, it's part of who you are. Your photographer will be used to photographing people with glasses and may need to give you a little direction in the posed portraits, for the informal and reportage images your photographer will be working hard to avoid flash reflection if they are using flash.

I have dry eyes so wasn't allowed to have contacts for years. I went to Boots, they were fantastic. They allowed me all the time I needed to get them in and out, and were perfectly happy to let me stay until I was happy with doing it. I seems to remember that they wanted to see me do it at least three times before I could go.

As with most things, once you get used to doing it is easy. I find that if my nails get really long it is more difficult, and once I was in a meeting at work and was so bored I bit all my nails off, I thought it would be really difficult to get them out with no nails, but it wasn't any harder.

I have no trouble putting them in my eyes or taking them out (i'm strange and can itch my eyeballs without it bothering me lol) but contacts really really hurt me, that is the best description of it so as much as i'd love to not wear glasses i have no choice....and no i won't have laser surger as my sister had it, paid thousands for it, and her night vision is terrible and she still has to wear glasses occasionally, so not worth the money really....
