    Hi
I am new to this wedding planning. We have set the date for our wedding but as of yet not booked anything. I have always dreamed of a big church wedding and have seen a church i would love to be married in. The problem is i am not sure if i will be able to. The church is not with in my parish and non of my or my H2B family have married in this church. Does this mean i will be aunable to marry in this church. Can any advise me on this. xxxxxx

I think the best thing to do, is contact the church, or go and visit and ask them personally, i thought that about the church i am getting married in. I went to have a visit and ask the person in question.

I have just posted a link on your wall, i have found this website really helpful. The law was changed so that now you only have to show a link to the parish.
    Hope it's helpful x

the your church wedding website is good, but you do only need a link to the church, i dont live within the parish of my church but as my mom does we was able to get married there. does your or h2b parents live within the parish then you should be able to

me or my h2b have no link to this church at all. Non of our parents or grandparents live in the parish area However i do have one family member that lives in the area but it is only a aunty and dont think that would count. I would go to church and speak to them but would feel silly if they said no. Thanks for all the info i am going to go and look at the websites you all suggested.

Haha I'm not sure you're supposed to lie to the church! If you have no physical connection there's mention of asking for a special licence to marry there, so talk this over with the vicar as you have plenty of time to apply etc x

lol i know you shouldnt ;lie but sometimes if you have your heart set on a certain church theres not much else to do, and anyway its only a little lie

I could'nt lie to the church. The only thing i can do is go to the church and ask. The only thing is i am not the most confident person. They havea website i could contact the that way or do you think that is impersonal.

Is it a busy church? If it is in a small village that needs the money then a link even if it's an Aunt may be enough.

You might well find that the vicar might just ask you to go for regular worship for a period of time (usually 6 months to get the link to the church I believe), and regular worship doesn't necessarily mean every week, fortnightly should do it. Hope you hear back soon x

I emailed the church. They replied to me today and said it would be best to go to evening surgery and see the Scribe on duty he will be able to establish if i can qualify. Does anyone know what evening surgery is and what i would have to do.x
