    Congratulations on your engagement

You'll need to check with your local registry office for their fees, because it varies from county to county. As for dresses, the bay of e is a fantastic resource - you can get a dress for £60
Meal wise, it will depend on how you want to feed them - a buffet will be much cheaper than a sit down three-course meal.

Congrats of your up and coming marriage :) A wedding can be as expensive as you make it. Do you know someone with a nice garden that you canuse? with summer coming up can have a BBQ, will be far cheaper, or get married late in the day and just have an evening disco with buffet?

Hi holz - I've just had a look at the barnstaple registry office website and it breaks down like this:
Giving notice £33.50 EACH (I think this is universal for all registry offices)
Marriage ceremony at the registry office Monday to Saturday - short service (no readings etc), two witnesses only £40
    Marriage certificate £3.50
    So bare minimum = £110.50

    Hope this helps

Oh... yes.... that's another point, even if their diary is completely empty, you still have to wait 16 days after giving notice before you get married.
But, as many, if not all the brides on this site will confirm, just over two weeks is never quite enough time to sort out all the little details, like getting dresses altered etc.

    Holz...

Firstly.. let me congrat you on your engagement...
    secondly, dont panic lol...

you can do a wedding cheap...
    what is your budget?

Im getting married in a Registry office in 11 days time, at the cost off £255 including notice of marriage... My dress £500 and the venue was the most expensive things.
I am having a sit down three course meal in our local Rugby club for 40 people for £600.

My Photographer was £285, and for that i am getting ALL the pics i want, but on a disc that i can print out rather than having an album.. (i can print them out and make my own ablum)

The DJ is £120 the cake im getting from M&S, the Cars are Three Silver Mercs from a taxi company (they are removing the Taxi badge at the back and putting on ribbons) all Three for £200

Im having 5 Bridesmaids.. at £30 a dress....

and all my other stuff i have gotten off Ebay.. so as you can see im having a cheapish wedding.. .
Good luck and dont be frightened to ask here! xx

heya, thankyou for the info, i have found some wedding dresses on ebay, as someone prev said, and looking at like just under 100 quid for one want. i want a few bridesmaid dresses it just finding one i want. lol. plus we got two little boys and little girl for page boy n flower girl! my fiance said find dress want tell him cost and will give me the money! lol. we want to try get it done quick because he might be losing his job so really he has said book evrything buy it he wil pay for it just in case~! so not sure on budget amount lol. if i buy a white dress the bridesmaids will be purple but it it white and red the bridesmaids be red with red flowers. but can get them from supermarket couple days before and mother n i can arrange them i think.

i think buffet be best idea as i used to do cricket teas for someone. so know how to spruce up food together in a pretty way! mother can help me to lol.think it just venue and figuring out who i should invite as want keep it small but dont want to leave anyone out, my son was christened nov last year so i could use his invitations but change them slightly~! as i did them at hoem anyway.

wedding cake sorted my mum will make it she already decided what she wants to do lol. knows what i like so that easy enough.

think maybe when discussed and booked earliest avail date and got dress at same time. everything else should be ok maybe lol.

heya i sent the request! hi rosie, i looked at some packages in this area n they pretty high lol. but there all major destinations for tourists as i am only couple months away from woolacombe beach! so its busy down here. lol.

ok i have foudn the perfect dress on eba, tomorow guna go round shops with mother and look at whats offer n sizes on me etc. then will buy it the one i want. its costing me 95 quid and 4 quid postage!! eek!!

as for bridesmaids dresses i really have no idea where to get them from as original plans like every girl has i wanted big church wedding and my maid of honour with 5 other bridesmaids. but as registry they dont really want you have that many do they?

n i got little boy and nephew that got to be my paige boys and my fiance J has a daughter which would be a flower girl.

spoken to my mother today and i am going to call the parish church in my area after we have a date for wed to see if (( its a nice day n all goes well)) that they will let us through the reception on the beach. can get couple gazeebos. make own buffet food which cost bout 100 quid depending how well you shop--- just alchohol that be lot. but pubs near by so thinking champagne for family n guests then pub for rest lol. prob b cheaper and maybe bbq on beach!! if they allow me to though. also means all my extra mates can pop down to have dance n stuff to. as my parents mate in a band, so if he avail will ask him if they will play for us!! n hopefuly as favour will be free lol.

eek i am so excited!! thinking if i did manage to get away with beach reception then i can go for little tacky ( no disrespect to anyone else though like) but can get balloons and maybe some of them lantern candle things. along with some flowers. even maybe like a bunch of petals scattered across the beach towards the reception do n just ribbons ent it!! i getting carried away now! lol. thinking small though still! xxx

    congrats on your engagment.

first off...i like your idea! the important thing is to get married...everything else is a bonus.
contact your registry off and find out how much it is to get married.

then the bay is amazing! you can get your dress from there and the bm otherwise get the bm to pay for their own!

i havnt read the above comments but i imagine they have some great advise! xx

heya thank you. w still not managed to contact the registry office!! but by god everything been a mission. i ahve so much drama on at mo its killing me let alone planning a bloody wedding!! i am so stressed with everything. i have found my dress i want n my man going to give me money to put in me acccount so i can buy it eek. then wel i have picked out a dress for MOH and its like 20 quid so think that be k. next thing is just to get the kids there outfits. as for food il do the buffet! i love to cook and il do it all day before something can be done day before that. me n the bloke discussed afternoon wedding then just got feed people evening food n buffet be cool as most ppl be drinking anyway lol. think can get footy club in same town as office for like 40 quid and they do dj and eveerything and you get footy pitch to mes bout on etc. so if cant have other things then always other options ay.

hope everything goes well in 7weeks n its exactly how you want it xxx
