Hi, i'm going to be a gypsy bride. I'm 16 years old and my lovely fiance popped the question 3 weeks ago, and we've decided to wait until i'm 18 before we get married. Trouble is i'm not an irish gypsy bride i'm english (far more traditional) and don't want anything over the top! Me and my fiance are both currently in college whilst working jobs and hes running a vehicle, I have savings but not a lot i'v been saving for a year to take my driving lessons after christmas. We are really struggling to save for after we are married so we no we can always bring food on the table ect. Good thing is we don't want kids straight away, We want to work on our careers and be financially stable. We just need help kicking it off. Any money saving tips please ladies?

    Hello and welcome!

First, I'd say keep a 'spending diary' - write down where every single penny goes...you'd be surprised about how much gets spent on silly little things. This might help you identify areas where you can stop spending money.

Is there someone who you trust that you can give money to look after, or look after your card if you have it in a savings account? Less easier to spend it that way!

There are lots of other great tips - ill see if I can bump a thread for you xx

at the end of each week put any coins that are under £1 into a tine .. you`ll be amazed how much they add up

The change tin is a great idea, we save everything apart from £1 and 50p from our purse/Wallet and it's averaging out between £30 and £40 per month which we are using to pay for our wedding rings :)

If you set a monthly amount to save that helps, all the little bits add up x

Ask for money for your birthdays and xmas etc. See if you can do boot sales. Only buy things you need and not things you want. My help you save a few pounds.
Make things for your wedding where you can. Do your homework first though as some things can work out cheaper if if you buy them so don't rush in take your time. Second hand items may be worth looking at too.

It depends on what your current spending habits are but I found that giving up takeaway coffees and expensive makeup (apart from foundation!) saved me a fortune. I used to spend about £16 on Benefit concealer but L'Oreal stuff at £6 does the same job! £10 pays for two of my centrepiece vases, of which I only need 6.
