Exhibitors at wedding fayres look at you or comment saying you have loads of time if your getting married in 2015 and kinda make you feel like you shouldnt be there.. Argghhh so annoying , whats wrong with being organised?, 2015 may isnt that far away.. Not for a wedding espesh. Not exactly the cheapest xxxx

hey there. I'm getting married in 2016. And I already looking in to prices and venues for every thing. So don't worry what people at the fayres have to say. The more organized your the better you feel. And it gives you time as well to add all the little extras that you wouldn't do if U didn't start the planning early. Xxxxx

I wouldn't worry! Some are pleased youre looking so early... helps you to be more savvy and pay in installments or consider how much you need to save/allocate etc.

It wasn't too bad for me as everytime I told them the fact I'm in the military means I need to be proactive sooner rather than later so I can give plenty of notice at work of the day!

took me a while to get the courage to do it rather than just walk away disheartened but its our special day and i want what i want......plus i need to save for it!

It's their loss, if you then don't use them because they don't take your booking as it's too early. The lady that I'm looking at for hair and make-up has told me to contact her again in January, but that's because she wants to focus on this year's brides first.

Bllaaa who care what they think!! Im a 2015 bride and have very little left to organise now. At the end of the day your there to give them custom. I was given a few comments from people at wedding fayres from which i walked away but most of who ive spoken to have been really great and supported the idea of booking so early in advance, 1-to get cheaper prices and 2-to lower the stress levels closer to the time. If your ready to book it then you book it, dont let people put dampeners on your planning, im finding it really exciting and itll only bite them people who comment in the backside when they lose your business!!
    Happy wedding planning xx

The photobooth I was looking at last week at a wedding fair said he was just about fully booked for 2015. It wasnt like he was pushing for a sale as he just put a sad face on as if to say 'sorry, too late'!

You need to be organised early I think, especially to get certain things/places/people that you want

I'm getting married in 2014 but I completely understand where you're coming from. About 18 months before my wedding date I visited a dress shop and I felt so deflated after I left because she kept saying things like 'well you've got loads of time' and 'its to early for you to make decisions' etc etc. So I tried to forget about it for a bit and even now with just 9 months to go, people are still saying stuff like that to me, including my own mother! We booked our date and venue last week and even the venue owner and registrar made comments about it being ages away and that theres loads of time etc. It annoys me a bit because it makes me feel a bit foolish, like an over excited kid, so thats why I'm here on this forum, I know you lot understand :)

It really miffs me when people are all "ages away" it's not at all! My wedding coordinator has emailed to say our venue is having a wedding fayre at the end of this month so if I go to any it'll probably be that one. Best wishes to whoever tries to tell us it's too early ^_^

I am looking at 2015 and going to my first wedding fayre in about 2 weeks so hope they aren't like that !

I have been to loads of venues and each one said it sounds a long way off but best start planning now and actually recommended going to wedding fayres to give me time and to find out what we want and don't want. I just hope if anyone is off with me from the wedding fayre I won't be in a stressed mode of I will tell them some home truths lol

I went to a wedding fayre recently, I had the decorators tell me that it's no time at all in wedding talk, whereas a cake decorator told me I had loads of time. I've decided it's never too early to book stuff, 2 of the cake makers, 1 of the car companies, 1 of the photobooths and 1 of the hair/beauty people are already booked for my date! So ignore them and find someone that wants your money!!

On another wedding fayre note, why are they always on a Sunday (they are locally anyway) and only til like 3pm?! H2B works weekends til 4, he's missed 3 fayres up to now because of the timings! x

We've been going to wedding fairs for the entire time and never experienced this, i think you've just been a little unlucky sweets. Don't let it put you off going to another though! xx

It's odd that companies would be like that - you would have thought they would want future business guaranteed.

I've been really lucky so far with people I have spoken to. I had one venue tell me I couldn't look as it was too early so I crossed them off the list immediately lol, the venue we have booked already had a cpl of dates for 2015 so treated me really nice and said I love organized brides :-)

The way I see it I want the people I like, not whoever is left without a booking for that date!!

Im getting married may 2015, a lot of people have been saying oh its 2 years and i correct them with no it 18 mths and it will surely go by really quick, ive already sorted a few things out booked the date (cyprus) if the hotels and flights were available i wouldve booked them too, i like to be organised it makes things so much easier, i have limited a few places and even bought nearly all the things for my hen weekend in march 2015, whatever you choose will be perfect for you i hope it all goes to plan x

I was surprised today as most countdown tick list is from 12 month 6 month etc but an actual wedding fayre (big one in the area) is advertising "18 months brides will be getting excited and kick starting wedding plans and orders" I know it silly but looking forward to this fayre where clearly they are expecting 2015 brides !

I actually had a lady at wedding fair refuse to let me try dresses on in 2012 for my (then) 2013 wedding. Litteraly 18months and she said.i could put loads of.weight on by then. I actually said I had a deposit in my pocket but she just shooed away her commission! I was of the impression that if they were rude I just wouldnt book them, but was always honest and told them. In my head I hoped they would treat the next bride better.

Being organised is the best thing when planning a wedding!

I don't think people realise the effect weddings have on people's pockets... I put a deposit on my dress back before may which was over a year to go and my mum kept saying its too early etc... I kept saying to her if this is the dress I want then I have to do this now only then did she accept it... I've worked out wha r wedding will cost after everything is paid and its £9,499 we doubled our budget! Food alone was £3k and my dress £1200!!! Hope u ins someone that will appreciate your business and take it seriously xxx

snobby sales people really get my goat! I was at the national wedding show in birmingham and i was looking at a jewellery store. There were three ladies on the stall talking amongst themselves. One lady pointed me out to another as i approached the stall and she turned, looked me up and down smirked and deliberately turned her back on me and carried on talking with the others. I was fuming, in the end another stall holder next to them held a loud conversation with me about how they havent had many people approach them because of their snobby elitist attitudes, but seriously i wanted to slap all three of them.

That is so rude LeanneP. We've had exhibitors say about 2015 being ages away as well and it is so frustrating; I will not be leaving anything to the last minute so I want to be organised there is nothing wrong with getting ideas! Plus some suppliers say 2015 isn't too far away and it will fly in while others say they have already started taking bookings for 2016!

Been resorting to saying 2014 sometimes :P

As a result of buying my dress 2years prior I've got down to the exact fit of my dress and now have no extra alteration costs! With that and being able to get quotes and bookings in advance we have saved loads of money up and now can get to have our dream honeymoon which we quite honestly were starting to think we just might never be able to do ever! So I always vote for the overplanning and early organisation - and if you're that organised surely that means that supplier has guaranteed business and can book in any needed supplies early at a cheaper price so they are making a good margin still too? So everyone wins. Anyone who doesn't support you, no matter how far in advance, shouldn't get to have any of your custom!

All i can think of is that these idiots must be rubbish. They must be the suppliers with lots of dates left and the ones that brides go to because the person they really wanted is already booked up. Luckily I haven't come across any of these silly people yet but if I do i will be telling them where they can stick my custom xx

I have been to 3 fayres today and every company I spoke to was fine about 2015 and it did seem most people there was for weddings in 2015 . One or two said it slightly too early for certain things but advised in January they will be releasing next years stock and actually took details to let us know where and when .

Maria: yup, I had this, and it drove me insane! I found the best thing to do was pre-empt it by saying how I was overly organised, etc.

Oh, and the vendors I ended up going with were those who didn't feel the need to comment (and I should add that I booked some things a whopping 3 years out!); so not everyone judges, and you might like to focus on those who don't ;-)
