So the Hen do is being arranged mega early as lots of the girls are mums & work part-time therefore the general feeling was to book early and they could spread the cost

Now it has come to it & my friend (who is arranging) has asked for a non refundable £10 deposit to book the day & evening plus accomodation, people are now saying they will wait nearer the time to check they can get the time off work, check they can come etc rather than "waste a tenner"!!!!

Don't get me wrong, I completely understand every penny counts and times are hard but we need to book to secure the day activity, evening activity & the hotel for everyone...............how can we guarante them a space if they are not prepared to part with a tenner?!!!!

    Am I being completely unreasonable?
Throw into the mix that my future MIL said she cannot come as they have a wedding that day for FIL's old work colleague?!
That invite came early and they sure did rsvp early to it also!!!
I'm not bothered she wont be there but it does hurt a little that this guy (who she does not even know) means more than me!!!

    Sorry for rant

It does seem a little unfair that people aren't willing to commit. I would definitely be reluctant to account for anyone who can't give you an answer now whether can attend. Surely with so much notice they can guarantee a day off work.

In respect of your mil it may be one of those occasions that she just can't get out of. It does seem unfortunate could you consider changing the date?

Hope it all works out hun xx

This was another reason we did it early also as a saturday in August is usually busy for most so plenty of notice given!

MIL could easily get out of this if she wanted to, she just does not want to but it's fine, Im like an elephant! Never forget!
After 9yrs with her son, and giving her 2 grandchildren, you would think she would make a small effort.....but No!

Not a chance would I rearrange the date for her!
She would not even appreciate it if I did and would no doubt come up with another excuse as to why she could not come!

Ummmm no I don't think you are being unreasonable. It's £10 for goodness sake and you are giving them the opportunity to spread the cost of a cracking weekend away. I'm skint at the moment because I've just paid £900 for my dress but I'd still happily pay £10 as a deposit for my friends hen. In this day and age a tenner is roughly a pck of crisps and a can of coke.

As for the MIL perhaps they've had a STD for that particular day and feel they have to go. I asked my MIL if she was coming to mine and she said absolutely no way as she's too old and doesn't want to go. I'm more than happy with that because she'd only be telling me how to do EVERYTHING and making sly comments about me drinking or tell me stories about people choking on their own vomit.

    I can't wait until 29/06/2013
The day I marry the man of my dreams!

tbf, it's only a tenner, yes times are hard, but I'm sure people can part with a tenner, and risk losing it, it's not really that much money, especially if enough notice was given. Wouldn't it make more sense for people to book the time off now, rather than waiting and potentially being told they can't have the time off? Ive had holidays in for december since january, the day I got my new holiday batch i was on the calendar booking my days off for the year lol

Just tell them the money is needed by X day and you will assume people can't make it if they dont cough up.

    Thanks Shirley
I said to H2B that it is prob a STD they have received but still, they would not of rsvp'd!!!

I am happy she wont be there though, means I dont have to make an effort with her, no small talk, no watching what I say. Just a bloody good knee's up and enjoy myself!!!

Just shows though how her loyalities lie!!

We can't book time off at work until Jan but still, its a saturday and one of them saying she does not know if she can have the time off works 1 in 4 saturdays, the same as mine and its not our saturday to work!!!

I would much rather people said No thanks than lie!!

It would be easier wouldn't it! I have a friend thats always saying oh yes il DEFINATELY be out, then never shows up, so we don't even bother inviting her anymore!

Good luck getting a yes or no either way! Theres nothing more annoying than ooooooh i dunno, you say yes and make it bloody work, or just say bleedin' no! *shakes fist*

I think you've got the right attitude, as long as the most important people are there what does it matter

Sounds like you're better off without mil being there! It's a shame that you have to make small talk after all these years - you shouldn't have to feel like that Hun, bit it does sound like she can't be bothered to make the effort!!

As for your pals if they can't risk a tenner on a maybe then it's probably not worth them being there xx

The girl who said she needed to book time off has just paid deposit!! She had not read it properly and thought it was on a friday!

Feeling better that is is not me being unreasonable (or my friend should I say)

    Thanks ladies x
