I think nowadays its a good idea to live together before you get married if you can - that way you're prepared for each others little quirks and annoying habits when you're married! lol

I'd say a good percentage of those who replied say it's better to live together first as it prepares you for marriage and what life with that person is going to be like forever and ever amen :D

Ofc, the ones that disagree are either doing it for religious reasons or because they have read some study that apparently says if you live together you're more likely to get divorced. Personally, I think that comes down to religion or culture as generally if your religion or culture say you should marry before living together etc they also generally don't have very good views on divorce etc... if your culture says you shouldn't really get a divorce, then naturally you are going to have a longer marriage!

That makes perfect sense! lol. Neither Adam nor I have any intention of getting divorced (wouldnt be getting married if we did, although we know these things happen) but similarly we wouldn't even have considered getting married until we'd lived together! We moved in together in March last year and had been engaged for 8 months by then, but didnt book the wedding until last October after we'd lived together for 6 months so we were sure we were compatible! lol. We've been together 6 and a half years but lets be fair, its pretty different living together than just going out! :o)

haha, brilliant way of thinking about it! I think Adam is like that, he was anti marriage for the whole time we'd been together before we moved in- he just never really believed in it. Then we moved in together, went through a rough patch shortly after but we sorted it out and we're happier than ever. I mentioned looking at venues after a while and he agreed, then he asked if we could reserve a date and here we are! lol. He's completely happy with it all now and has done a complete u-turn, its lovely :o)
