I'm really sorry to hear about your loss, Mel.

I am in such a good mood! We hit Waitrose just at the right time to get the deli clearout. We got loads and loads of serrano and parma ham for next to nothing and it's good for ages. So we're living on ham for a while. So not healthy, but scrummy!

The guy behind the deli counter seemed so delighted to get rid of it, as otherwise it would go in the bin.

I once got enough food for a very, very tasty barbecue for six for less than a tenner off the cheap shelf. I just called my friends and had everyone over for cocktails and loads of funky bits and bobs. I love cheap shelves!

Anyone have an idiot proof but moist sponge cake recipe? I wanna surprise my Dad with a birthday cake, but I'm not the worlds best cake maker.....

I've heard that weighing the eggs is the key - or something?

For a classic Victoria sponge, weigh your eggs and then cream the same weight of butter and sugar together before adding the eggs and the same weight of self-raising flour. Seeemples!

I'm not sure I'm great at moist, but good at light with a moist filling. :D

Mine -- Its one egg for 2oz of everything else.

So 8oz Flour, 8oz marg, 8oz sugar (if you're putting vanilla essence in use 1 less oz of sugar), 1/2 tsp of baking soda

eggs in a bowl, whisk for like 5 mins using an electric whisk slowly add the sugar after about 3 mins of whisking. Then after those 5 mins whisk in very soft butter marg and the vanilla ess.

Seive the flour at least twice befre putting it and , mix it in using the fig of 8 method so it looks like moose.

oven 180 degrees justr keep checking it - I reckon 15 - 20 mins

that's exactly how I make mine.
And all the food I eat to be honest!
