Morning ladies, just catching up on what I missed yesterday! Had a manic day in work so didn't manage to get on here, working from home today to try and catch up! 5 hour meeting yesterday and got told our office is moving into one of our parent companies offices in North Wales as of 4th Jan, so I become a full time home worker as of then as I have no way of getting to the office! Result haha!

I'm so jealous Emma. Although I'd never get any work done if I was working from home.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.
I know haha, I have to make sure I don't have the TV on but going to turn one of the spare bedrooms into an office so I'm away from distractions. I work from home once a week now and I don't get as distracted as I thought I would haha!

Oooh that's cool Em! I find I work so much better at home, not sure if I would if I was constantly at home though as would surely get distracted by washing, cleaning, cooking etc. hahaha. But will be nice to do things in your own space!

I don't really have much choice but it will be so much better, as long as I make sure I go outside for a walk at lunch time so I'm not constantly at home then I think it will be ok! Plus if I have an office I probably won't get distracted by things, I'll just lock myself in there!

Y'know I mentioned a colleague who was really rubbing me up the wrong way? I've just been told that her role is going to be slightly changing which means quite a large pay cut - the new role is just admin, she is going to be really chuffed about being an "admin girl"... and reporting to me!!! If she doesn't accept then she will have to leave the business and someone else will be brought in. I really doubt she will stay to be honest.

I would feel sorry for her, IF she hadn't brought it on herself! She's been playing some funny games that both my boss, the Director and various other people across the business have picked up on. She would be really good at her job if she cut out all the funny business! If she leaves and we get someone new in they would be based in the Swindon office with me, so I will have a bit of company! I've gotten used to being on my own most of the time though, so that would be weird.

I use the dining table now but if I was doing it every day I'd need a proper office so work are giving me a desk and a PC so I can work properly, just need to clear out one of the rooms to fit it in haha!

I will be seeing some of it.. not sure how much yet though. My boss did say she would be on less than me though. I'm hoping for AT LEAST a £5k pay rise but we shall see. It scares me that the Director is finalising the budget as we speak so they've obviously already had the conversation and decided what is going to happen... worries me that there may not be room for maneouvre when I have my review next year.
Oh that's good that they're giving you a desk as well!

That's a result Emma. I'm working from home today, but have already put on 2 loads of washing and find I come on here a lot more too!!!
When does she find out Flossie about her new role? I'd love a 5k pay increase - hope you get it. We're lucky if we get 1% but right now I am just grateful to have a job especially when we're waiting to hear if OH is going to be put on gardening leave. Timing sucks with all that we have to pay out for with the wedding.

She'll find out early Jan Lindsey, boss says he doesn't want to have the conversation with her before Christmas. He wants to combine it with a team meeting, so he'll speak with her first and then we'll have the team meeting - that may be slightly awkward!!
It's quite funny. I've created a brochure that my boss has sent around the business today asking for some feedback. She's just called him to give her hers - she is being so petty about it and my boss knows it lol.

I think if it was me I'd refuse to participate in the team meeting and just leave lol. To be told you're taking a pay cut and a "lesser" role and then having to sit there for the day discussing how the team is to move forward etc may be a bit of a kick in the teeth!!

I love a bit of office drama!!!! I've got one in my team who is drama to the max - mountains/mole hills. Such a negative woman. Had to do her supervision yesterday and she just doesn't get it. She likes to challenge and do her own thing, but she's doing things wrong as a result. Her references were poor before we took her on and I wanted to pull the plug, but got over-ruled by the senior manager and now I am left to have to deal with the inadequacies. She just can't do the job, but I need evidence to move it on formally!

I know Flossie - she drives me mad. Plus it's the insolence and the attitude. Unfortunately as we're public sector it's not easy for us to just make the role a lesser one - we'd have to go through a COnsultation process with her.

I thought you still received full pay whilst on gardening leave too actually as you are still contracted to the company, but I guess it's the whole stress of having to find another job during that time.

Ah yeah, that would depend on the company/industry. I would be put on gardening on leave as I'm privy to confidential information that the company wouldn't want to get passed onto any competitors. Sounds good being paid for doing nothing!

No worries Emily I don't really know much about it as with my job it's not required. I know that OH put in his 6 week notice and the next day they sent him on gardening leave with full pay. His new company was in the same industry though so I expect that was why x

Yeah, at our place they ask if you are leaving the industry or not and if so will put you on gardening leave. Chances of staying in it are minimal though because our industry is big but far spread.
