    Morning all.

Freddi was good last night, he went off about 730 then woke at 1230 and again at 430 then laid chatting to himself at 630. When he did wake he went back off quickly.

Got work today, and tomorrow, both late shifts. I had some texts last night asking if I could do New Year's Eve night. I said no, but said yes to a late shift on Christmas Eve.

How old is Freddie GF??? I forget what it's like doing the night wakes with a baby lol..... My ex wasn't very supportive so I did them all.....

OH was offered Christmas and new year shifts on the railway at a very very good wage. We need to see what contact order is put into place before we confirm but it's too good money to turn down.

Normally, if you work Christmas you don't work new year, if the kids did not get upset when they saw the text and were not bothered I may have done, then next year I would have said I want time off seeing as I done both, but I thought nope, my Christmas is messed up really with working Christmas night, then a night off and then back again for a night on the 27th.

I had a rubbish sleep, and when I was finally in a deep sleep OH woke me up to say bye before he went to work. Which I don't mind cos I'd be upset if he didn't, but couldn't get back to sleep after that. Currently having my morning coffee and an e@st3nders catch up.

We went out for dinner last night with oh parents and his bratty sister- I nearly choked when she announced her and bf of 13 years have bought a house- bearing in mind she is 32 and his mum still gets her up, she only stays at bfs on a Saturday, never did I think they would move in- now this isn't just a little first time house but a 3 bed 280k house! Surprised she parted with money to be honest as she doesn't ever spent it- guess that's how she can afford it as been living at home for years and only paying £100 a month rent and no bills etc on a teachers wage and also bf has a house which will be selling so I suppose for him it's a step up! I just can't see her getting on and having to do everything like cleaning and Hoover etc, some days I think she is 15 still- perhaps this is what she needs and will do her good :-)

    Morning all!

Some of you have been up super early!!

Hope everyone's ok haven't really had chance to scan through the threads.
Bed bound in lanzarote on my holidays thanks to some absolute brats this morning whilst we were having breakfast on our balcony area who felt it appropriate to good a ball full belt that hit me square in the back so I'm in agony and haven't got my tramadol with me because doctors couldn't give me a note to travel with them in time.

Sick to death of the three brats all holiday they've been terrorising the apartments and the parents have never said a word to them to make them behave... ridiculous. They didn't even apologise when it hit me!

Congratulations Kelbel, I'm about two weeks ahead of you with my first. One of my colleagues is due four days before me (so it could be a race to the finish) and two of my husband's colleagues are due to become fathers, so it's all happening. Plus one lady and my church and one at his, and one of his friends has announced he'll be a father in the middle of May. Unfortunately all the expectant mothers are due too late for me to scavenge the things that they will have grown out of, but there have been plenty of offers from people with kids a year old or more. My next scan is 2nd December, and like you I'm planning on finding out. I don't mind what it is, but I'd like to be able to say he or she rather than it. Dorothy is so adorable.

Becci that's awful. Is it a hotel, could you complain to the manager? If they're affecting the experience of the customers the staff can speak to the parents. Is there a local doctor you could go to for some temporary pain relief?

It's an apartments EC but the reception is very limited in opening hours. I just want to come home now I've had enough. The brats get on very well with the bar staff so the apartments wouldn't do anything I don't think.

There is a doctors about a mile away but I'm not sure if theyd prescribe be with tramadol because it's pretty extreme but the only way I found I could get rid of the pain was with two of them but that made me really sick so I try my best not to take it and cope with the pain. The Suns not out yet and doesn't look like its coming out today so just going to try and relax it laid inside and hope it's better for tomorrow it's the muscle spasms that makes it worse and the numbness because my arms and legs just twitch constantly without control because of the spasms in my back ... I have my first steroid injection on Tuesday so only a few more days to put up with the pain then a 4.5 hour flight and 3.5 hour drive but the hopeful end is in sight!

The bar staff are probably quite junior staff though, and have very little say in things. If you were able to speak to reception and ask to speak to a manager to say that you got injured on the premises they should take it seriously. Particularly if you mentioned compensation, which you might be entitled to if there were customers who were misbehaving and not spoken to. The only other thing is whether it's worth actually speaking to the parents yourself, but if they're not reasonable people that might just make it worse. It may be that they have no idea how badly behaved their kids are being.

Their parents seem very laid back EC so I don't think making them aware of the incident would mean anything to them - theyd probably just laugh!

There's no signs around the apartments saying no ball games either so technically they weren't doing anything wrong - just socially disrespectful to have no regard for other people. If my back didn't hurt so much I'd get the ball and put a knife through it in front of their faces and see how amusing they found that! And my mum can't understand why we chose to take our honeymoon at an adult only resort!

I was starting to warm to children until today.

Not got wages sorted yet, will see the mw today I think who deals with it. I know she will say it's right though, that's the kind of person she is, even though she said I'd get paid what was due to me. I'm going to query though why I have to go in and do extra on my annual leave, I am meant to be on annual leave tomorrow for a week, yet I shall be doing an extra 20 hours. So that is 1 hour over full time. Also Christmas week, as I am doing an extra shift that also is an hour over full time. I thought it was low as I thought we were going to get 30 hours pay and not the 18.75. At the end of the day, I get it but not until the following month.

It's such a shame when one family gives children on holiday a bad name. We had our honeymoon on a cruise where I was surprised at the number of children around, I wouldn't have considered the destinations particularly obvious for kids. However there was a kids club on board, and none of the children around were any trouble. I suspect some of the parents wanted to be on the cruise and took the children with them rather than leaving them with friends or family, but didn't take them ashore. Seems like a bit of a waste though, to take your children all that way to leave them in a floating hotel. It may also be that they just took them to the beaches.

Gf - surely they can't not pay you especially of you're meant to be on annual leave .. Do you keep a note of the exact hours you do in a diary?

I wouldn't have thought cruises were a place people would take kids either .. I'd have thought they'd get board but I know a lot of cruise ships have lots of different activites for kids now like surf simulators and things but it's an awful lot of money to take kids on a cruise of they sont appreciate it!

Just had a little read about the plane crash . It was going from sharm to Russia and 23 minutes after take off contact was lost with it after radars showed it had been descending at a Rate of 6000 feet per minute! Wa travelling at 31000 so it would have crashed within 5 minutes must have been terrifying! Pilot had also made sharm atc aware of a fault and requested a route change because of it but seems it was too late. They do however think there may be some survivers in a section of the plane because they reported hearing voices .. Fingers crossed but there again after seeing and experincing something like that it might haunt them forever

That's a pain GF, they shouldn't mess around with people's pay. If there was a change to the pay deal they should have given you plenty of warning. We get paid overtime effectively a month behind, but that's always been the case and I knew that when I started (not that I do much). Basically payday is the 24th, and overtime has to be submitted by the end of each month to be paid on the next payday. Effectively if I did overtime through August, I would submit the form by the end of August and it would be paid on September 24th. Any overtime from September would be paid on October 24th. One of my colleagues did a lot over the summer vacation, as she is normally only term-time but her other income is university teaching which obviously wasn't there. When my line manager who needed to sign off the claim forms was ill she got a bit panicky that they wouldn't get submitted in time and it would be another month late. Fortunately when we made finance aware they accepted them without signature on condition that the line manager, who could still access her email at home, approved them via email. It wasn't ideal though, if she'd been too ill to go to the computer I'm not sure what would have happened. Potentially her line manager would have had to sign them, but he wouldn't have had access to her records of what we had done so he would have had to take our word for it (which I think he would have done), and then if we'd over-claimed presumably we would have had it taken off the next month. In actual fact I think most of us under-claimed if anything.

Yes I was just looking at the plane crash as well. They're saying that the pilot requested an emergency landing at a nearby airport. There were people scaremongering and suggesting that it was attacked as apparently there is a jihadist group around there, but the report said that the plane was too high to be attacked from the ground. Apparently all the passengers were Russian, heading home from a Red Sea resort, and there were 200 adults and 17 children. There isn't any mention on the Beeb website report about fatalities, so you never know there may be survivors.

Good news about Shaker Aamer being back in the U.K. though. He's done 13 years in Guantanamo Bay without charge, which is totally unacceptable. His youngest child was born on the day he was locked up so he's never even met him. I'm all for putting people guilty of terrorist activity in prison, but not somewhere that they are going to be tortured to get a confession, and not without sufficient evidence to put them on trial and get a conviction. Apparently he's now in hospital, although where is thankfully being kept private. He'll meet his children for the first time in 13 years later today, once initial health assessments are done. It's so unfair that he's missed them growing up when he may well just have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.

It's so tragic. There seem to be so many crashes, and you have to remember how many flights there are daily in the world to see what a small proportion it actually is. Every time it happens it's disastrous though. Hopefully they can learn lessons so that at least that particular cause can be prevented in future.

At least they know where this aircraft ended up. It's must have been even worse for the families with the ones that vanished and couldn't be found. I know the French one that crashed over the atlantic was found eventually but they never found all the passengers, and they're only just now finding the remnants of the Malaysian one that disappeared in the Indian ocean.

I think I'm too young to know anything about him I don't recognise the name.

I think the press just report more about them now; people only make such a big deal of aircraft going down because it's still fairly rare but when it does happen it tends to be tragic with hundreds killed at once. Surprising that it's the safest form of travel still

It's only recently I've been more aware of him. There was a big push to get him out which was in the news, as he was the last U.K. citizen kept in Guantanamo Bay. I do remember the prison being opened in George W. Bush's time, and a lot of people being uneasy then about the lack of systems for getting prisoners tried and convicted. They were just locked up and left there and forgotten about. There were an awful lot of assumptions made, and a lot of young muslim men who happened to be in Afghanistan at the wrong time got locked up. There were allegations of torture as well, and I'm pretty sure water boarding (where they recreate the sensation of drowning) was caught on video. Shaker was cleared for release by both George W. Bush and Barack Obama, and still they didn't let him out. I think there are a lot of cases now where the men left there are stuck there because countries won't take responsibility for them. The U.K. on the other hand pushed hard to get its citizens out of there. There are investigations though about U.K. complicity in torture in the early stages.

I had met someone that was on the French one. My choir did an exchange with a German choir, and their director was on the flight with her daughter, her sister and her child, and her parents (and I think a few other relatives). I think only one of the family was found. The choir visited us recently again with their new director, and the new director seems to have been fully accepted, but it can't have been easy for them to move on. I know that our director went to a memorial service for the family where the choir sang with one of the members that had previously been stand-in director conducting, and apparently it was heart-breaking. They got through it but they couldn't watch the conductor because he was in tears. I'm so glad they've got someone who can take them forward, as they're a brilliant choir.

The people who do this stuff are pretty much brainwashed not to see the prisoners as people. It's the same with the people who are involved in carrying out the death penalty. I've heard stories of real mental health problems in former death row staff who have come out of that environment and had to come to terms with what happened there.

I hate it when people argue in public. You'd think they could at least wait until they get behind closed doors. Although there was one where it was better that it was in the open. A young couple yelling at each other, something to do with him needing her to go with him to an appointment as he couldn't go on his own and her refusing, and chucking his medication over the hedge. I think there might have been a drugs issue. Anyway it looked like it could turn nasty, and quite a few people stopped to watch, not out of curiosity but to intervene if it got violent. Fortunately it didn't, as she stormed off. I felt bad for the guy, it sounded like he was doing his best to come off drugs and she couldn't be bothered to support him.

30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.
It was the day that I became Mrs. Dixon.

Toddlers are great on journeys most of the time, provided they've got things to keep them occupied. It's all so fascinating for them, particularly if they're next to a window and can look out. The funniest one I had though was a lad of about 18, when I was flying to Switzerland and was on my own (I was about 25). He and his friend were flying off for a year out somewhere, and were first time flyers. His reaction when we took off was just like a young child (in a good way). It was so sweet.

Becci, I will get paid for the hours I do over my annual leave but will be the following month. What I need to know is, if I am only getting paid 18.75 a week, then there is no need for me to come in on my annual leave to make up the hours to 30 as I won't be getting paid that amount. I was on the understanding that last month we would get the 30 hours paid to us, and that is why I had to do extra in my annual leave to boost it to 30 hours.

What's the military diet mmw2b? Sounds strict but 6lb is good
