Need to sort out a situation at school, it all kicked off the other night on social media, my son stuck up for a girl, one who is by close to him, known each other since birth, too close a friend to even become by and gf. Suddenly people started kicking off yesterday at school in the afternoon, this was after I had a call asking if my son could stay behind after school for a detention. Anyhoo, he was telling me all about it yesterday and told me this girl who was one of the ones causing trouble (not the same one he stuck up for) started pushing him and punching him. I asked if she is getting into trouble as it was not just him she started on. Appears not! Yet the girl he stuck up for is getting punished, I have been fair with them, if they call and ask for my permission to stay behind after school for a detention I have said yes, why should I now give them permission if they are allowing a girl to do that to a boy.

I've got a bit of training coming up. For our mandatory study days now we have to go to Portsmouth, bit of a pain but hey ho. I should have done mine in June so out of date. One of my bffs at work said she's doing hers in April which is the first one in Portsmouth, I said I should be on that one, she looked and I was not, I was on December, spoke to the lead educating mw and she said put yourself down for April, so my bff high fived me, then another joking around said to me, oh get what you want. Haha. Also got newborn life support course to do. That's a hard one apparently, that's in May. Going to be a long couple of days.

Emm it went ok with my dad - he didn't even mention the uncle situation after all that!!! So I'm not sure if he knows about my uncle now not coming at all or not and the whole FB chat/blocking thing, but if he didn't bring it up then I certainly didn't want to. We'll see what happens - maybe it might come up tomorrow at the party lol.
In other news, my dad and step mum have an interesting proposal! Both my step brother and OH are barbers, my dad and step mum are looking to invest in a 2nd property so they have offered to invest in a commercial property for my step brother and OH to run as a barber shop and they will be silent partners. OH going to speak to my step brother about it and see what they think.

I've spoken to th school at last, had to call twice and tell them I needed to speak to someone before school starts. Apparently the mentor who called me did not know about my son being hit and pushed yesterday, hmmmm he went to the mentors. I told them I'm getting fed up with the situation at the moment and feel I need to take it to the governors. Suddenly, she's doing something. Said she will be reading th riot act to the girl involved and speaking to another girl who said a comment as he walked away. That girl happens to be the same one who said that thing about me last year. I did say that I feel that all they will do when asked is say I never said or did that and the school will say oh ok then and accept it. Hopefully she's going to be dealt with.

We looked at our menu choices last night and ended up with head spin and on the telephone to both of our mums!!! Anyway, we think rather than go for the tried and tested when we go next week, we're going to try dishes we wouldn't normally have... Hope we don't regret it, but tasting chicken seems like a waste of a free meal when you can have local guinea fowl and other more interesting meat!!! We probably will go with the chicken, but helps us to eliminate other dishes we're considering. Really looking forward to it - it's all starting to feel incredibly real now.
I saw my local bridal shop has my dress in now - I haven't ordered it from there as when I went they didn't have it or anything else I particularly liked. However, I need to get myself sorted with a veil and I wondered whether it would be cheeky to book an appointment to specifically try on my dress so I can see what veils look okay with it. The shop I've ordered my dress from is about an hours drive away. The only thing is, I am bit nervous as am worried if I try the dress on now I may not like it... dilemmas!!!

Finally finished watching the star wars films so me and OH can take mom to see it on Friday night. She refused to see the new one until she had watched the old ones. Slept like a log last night. feel so refreshed this morning.

Snap Emily!!! We're halfway through the last one of the originals with the ewoks. I got OH them all for his birthday so we've been watching them for the last week. They're okay, but not sure I quite get the hype of the original ones - I thought the newer ones the storylines were a lot stronger. I also did a bit of reading around the cast - tend to do that if it's an old film. We've just exhausted a lot of old Hitchcocks.
Anyway, was interesting to read about Carrie Fisher - didn't realise how tiny she was. An inch shorter than me. However, she has hit back after all of the negative comments about the way she looks today and how she's not aged very well. She said that whilst she signed a contract to be in Star Wars she didn't sign a contract not to be able to age over the last 30-40 years since the original films were made!!

Haha Lindsay love her comment. I don't get it either. The last one is the only one I like really of the older 3 but I do like the first 3 episodes. I would love an ewok as a pet! OH has them on Blu-ray which is a pain because mom cant get he head around his playstation to watch them on her own. One of us has to be there to do it for her. Means I have watched all 6 though so have a better understanding of it. We loved the new film though. Wont say anything more as don't want to spoil it for you!

Just been reading this on a local paper site about the fire and something that was destroyed......
ONE of the Dunkirk Little Ships was the victim of the devastating fire that ripped through Medina Village, Cowes, on the Isle of Wight — just yards from where it is believed she was built.
The Vere, which once made the dangerous crossing between Ramsgate and Dunkirk to rescue hundreds of British soldiers during the Second World War, met its end at one of the storage buildings used by David Heritage Racing Yachts.
It was one of 32 boats destroyed, having been put in storage for the winter to protect her.
The Vere was built in 1905 as an admiral's steam barge and later sold into private ownership.
She was requisitioned by the Admiralty in August 1939 for work that possibly included mine-hunting in the Thames Estuary.
In May 1940 Vere joined the huge fleet used for a daring mission to save soldiers stranded at Dunkirk.
She was credited with rescuing 346 British and allied troops.

That's really interesting GF - a little bit of WW2 history gone.
Hate cooking with the foils on Mrs W. What colours you having done? I usually take a book to read. I have been toning the lights down in my hair as wanted to go back more to my original colour. Happy with the shade of brown my hair now is, but thinking of having some copper or red lights put through at my next appointment.

GF it's a real shame when rules seem to apply to some children but not to others. Even now I think girls often get away with more than boys. If it happens again it may be that you need to refuse permission for your son to stay late for detention unless others involved are also in detention. Otherwise the worry is that your son might learn the lesson that it is better to stay out of things even if someone innocent is getting hurt.

I really struggled again this morning, I keep waking up in the night. A combination of aching legs, being thirsty and hubby snoring is not helpful. I was late for work so I'm going to have to try harder to get up on time tomorrow. I have got some leave to use up though, starting with the Monday off a week on Monday, so hopefully a few four day weeks will help. I had four days to use up during the term, then two weeks which I will take in Easter vacation to take me up to the start of maternity leave.

Ec, I told the woman on the phone that next time I may just refuse permission, I've been fair in that when he's done wrong I feel he should be punished, it really annoyed me after doing such a long, mentally and physically draining day at work to come home and be told that.

Did your son have to go to the detention yesterday GF? Seems unfair that he ends up with detention and she just gets a talking to. Hopefully they have made her parents aware of what's happened although with her history with your family I am inclined to agree that she will probably stir up more trouble.

Grr so angry!!!!!!
Had a surveyor come out the other evening to look at our lounge in the flat. OH said that when he went up into the roof the insulation was wet through and we're getting horrid patches on our ceiling. They came and went and said we would need new insulation which the managing agents are responsible for. Never got a copy of the report and had to chase them today. Report came and they're saying that whilst it's their responsibility to sort, I can pay to have it done myself at my own expense as they need to get permission from the Board of Directors which may take months and months. I've already been waiting since 2013 for this to be sorted.
I've told them I am not paying them any further maintanece until it's been sorted as this is what I pay them to do. Feel like I'm being fobbed off.

Sounds a right palaver Lindsey! Why should you have to pay for it when they've already confirmed that it is their responsibility?! Surely as you have been waiting so long they will be able to speed up the process a little - just sounds like they are trying to get out of it.
The barber shop is a good opportunity, just don't know if my step brother would be up for it. He has already owned and run his own barber shop once and found it really stressful so went back to renting a chair in someone else's barber shop. He has recently been questioning whether he wants to continue barbering at all, but it would be such a waste to not put his skill to use! Think he would also be worried about my step mum wanting input in the running of the business as well, but she says she wouldn't. OH however would grab the chance with both hands as he is desperate for his own shop!

I agree with what Emily has said Flossie, your step brother might feel better knowing he has more support this time. I suppose when they sit down and talk about it they will be able to see if it will work. You never know he might jump at the chance as well as your OH, do they get on well?

They're not extremely close but they do get on well. It would be great for OH as well as he would pick up so much more from my step brother as he is much more experienced - between them they would also bring a large client base to the new shop as well. When he owned a shop before it was in partnership with someone else so he wasn't on his own then, but he eventually got bullied out by the partner and ended up selling his share to her for peanuts!

Just taking the cost of opening the shop and starting up the business out of the equation is huge! My step mum and dad even said that they don't even expect to see their investment returned in a hurry - obviously one day, but no immediate pressure. I really hope my step brother goes for it. We will be seeing them at the party tomorrow night so hopefully they can have a little chat about it then, but we're also going to plan to go see their new house and the babba soon anyway so can talk about it in more detail then as well.

I know OH will one day open his own barber shop anyway whether this pulls off or not, but it would be a fab opportunity for the both of them. They could achieve great things together I am sure! Watch this space.

My car was ok this morning, had lovely blue skys. Now its clouded over and I just cant keep warm. My porridge didn't keep me warm for long though. Flossie get yourself some fingerless mits (without the bit that goes part way up your finger) I made myself some and wear them all the time as my fingers are always really cold. They are great for typing and knitting. they don't warm up 100% but they definitely do help.

It was only a very thin layer of frost on my car, when I first looked I thought it was just condensation but soon discovered it was ice! I think mits would annoy me, I don't like having anything on my hands, I'm the same with my feet - much prefer bare feet, even though they cold easily as well!
Gosh OH is full of opportunities at the moment! He's just met a barber in the gym who says he is looking to expand and is looking for a young barber to join him. The barbers is actually in the gym which is interesting, he has a small room at the moment but is getting a bigger one. He would have to pay rent initially whilst he builds up a client base but then they could talk about the arrangements once he'd got himself established. He has told OH to go and work with him for the day on one of his days off and get a feel for it.
