I worked out this morning we still have £8k to save for the wedding/house move :( should be able to do that in 6 months though if all goes to plan. Jut longer than we were hoping

Hope the smear went ok InDreamland. I used to find them really painful, but the last one was absolutely fine. The nurse had me lying a different way so I will do that from now on. I do agree that they should at least offer them to younger ladies, even if they are not quite so strongly encouraged. I wasn't sexually active until I got married, but a lot of girls are active now and the risk is higher for girls who are active. Having said that the new vaccine will hopefully reduce the occurrences of cervical cancer in younger ladies. I suppose we won't know until the current crop of girls in their teens are getting into their mid to late twenties, and then statistics can be compared.

I've decided to bite the bullet and I've bought a pregnancy test. My longest cycle has been 32 or 33 days, and most of those were before I lost weight so they weren't so regular. Since coming off the pill I've had 32 and 30, and I'm on day 36 in this one. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, as I know it could just be that my cycle isn't totally regular yet, or that the stress of the house move has knocked it for six, but I did seem to be ovulating at the right time, and I have felt a bit different, although I could just be tuning into certain things. I've had the stomach cramps that I would normally get with a period, and the tiniest little bit of red discharge (literally, just a tiny amount that was red stained). I've also had tender breasts, which I normally get, but it's more noticeable. I've been tired and occasionally slightly queezy, but again I could explain that in other ways. I suppose there's only one way to find out for sure. I've been delaying as I didn't want to buy the test and then get my period late before I took it. Plus I can't help but be hopeful so I don't want to have to see the test say not pregnant.

I know what you mean though EC, I was a week late once so took a test, was disappointed and came on the next day. Decided now I'll give it 2 weeks if I'm so lucky.

Thanks ladies! The only thing is he said I would have to attend a 2 week training course in their head office which is in Gateshead so I would have to stay there for 2 weeks, coming back for the weekend in between! Don't want to spend that long away from OH but I suppose it will be worth it for a new job! xx

I'll try the test tonight, and let you know. If it's a no and I still don't get a period I'll try it again in a few days. I'll be stunned if it happens so quickly, we've only tried for a couple of months. I'll be annoyed if I get a period now as aside from the disappointment it means that in future I'll have to wait far longer before I can consider testing.

Just make sure that you spend quality time together in the weekend. We have been going out for meals and for walks down the canal rather than just sit in the house me knitting him playing his games. That way we are spending proper time together

My OH used to work away every single week sometimes only back on a Sunday, but the money was great so didn't moan about it,but he got fed up of being away all the time so changed jobs,this week is the first time in 3 yrs he's been away longer than 2 days,money not so great but pays the bills so I'm not moaning. X

Elinor Claire the first wee of the day is best to test with as it's more consentrated so gives a more accurate result so if u can hold out til the morning that wud be best! I also got the red/pink staining the month I found out I was pregnant with LO it was Implantation bleeding! Good luck

Thanks Danielle, I might give that a go. Emma you'll like being up north. Gateshead is just across the river Tyne from Newcastle, and both places have things to see. If you have time to get out into Northumberland as well I would strongly recommend it. Of course there is also the Angel of the North up there. I can't stand it myself but others think it's brilliant. Just a matter of taste I suppose. Take the chance to explore a bit, it might make it more bearable.

I live in Liverpool so I'm still up north just a different place lol! I used to go to Durham on holiday every year and loved it! We always went to Newcastle whilst we were there but not Gateshead. It will just be weird being somewhere like that by myself haha xx
