Yep, I've got used to the idea of doing Christmas Day night now. Even though it is the worst shift you can do as it knocks out both X,as day and boxing which is my kids Xmas day really, but to then have one night off and back again totally wipes out Christmas altogether, I'm a mess the day after finishing nights,

I thought work would sort me out for sleep last night, when it got to 7pm I was flagging big time. The thought that kept me going was that in just over an hour from then the night staff would be in, sleep was kind I will say that, just not enough of it.

When I got in from work yesterday I rushed home as walking dead starts at 9pm, meant to finish then but done handover and got out the door and was home by 5past, hubby was snoring his head off on the sofa so then had to find the channel it was on to watch it. Was hoping to walk straight in and it be on,

I used to sleep so well. My head would hit the pillow and I'd be out like a light. Even the loudest noise could not wake me up - when I lived at home the smoke alarm was a bit temperamental and went off quite often, it never woke me up despite being right outside my bedroom door! (A little concerning maybe lol).

But now I wake up at the slightest noise!

    Morning all :)

I hate them headaches gf! Nothing seems to make them go hope it shakes itself off for you soon!

Ozzy is in destructive mode this morning and have already removed all the stuffing from one of his toys then proceeding to parade with my pencil again .. It's going to be a long day!

Systems still aren't working either so I'm have to add all repair requests onto my system as I'm one of about 5 people in the company that it's working for so that's about 25 locations that I'm having to input data for- nightmare!

Got my mri results later today. Have a feeling there's not going to be anything to show so I'll be no further along but will have to wait and see!

Morning all. Been back to the dr this morning. She said my wee is still "lighting up like an Xmas tree" when she tests it lol. So another another course on antiobitcs for a week. We are going away at the weekend and I'll be on antibiotics. Typical.

GF I don't know my Xmas off duty yet but if I go on nights when I'm supposed to me last week of nights will be Xmas week. I'll be due to work night duty Xmas eve. Sucks with LO but I'd then be off Xmas day and Boxing Day. Id just have to do without sleep Xmas day.

    Morning all
Thanks for asking after us becci, OH finger is getting better slowly,he's pulled 2 stitches out while working and was moaning it wasn't healing quick enough so told him to leave it uncovered for a bit to let it dry up a bit which has helped loads. As for me I'm loads better too had no appetite until Friday.
LO scared me when I got her from school yesterday she's got a slight cough but was really wheezy when I collected her, by the time we walked home she was getting bluer and bluer around the mouth so had to give her her inhalers, first time in over a yr she's been like that so rung Drs who said it was an asthma attack, shes never had that before even tho she has asthma! inhalers sorted it out so panic over. Have informed school who are keeping eye on her today.
Hope you get sorted soon Danielle xx

Becci, I'm not going to do much today, got a new book, having a latte at the mo, then home and read my book.

Danielle, I would have preferred any day shift Xmas day purely because I have the kids back Boxing Day, I'm happy to work Xmas day as no kids but when a night wipes out two days really. I'm going to be a walking mess Boxing Day. Oh well, the joys of working in an environment that is 24/7 eh?

What book did you get GF? Sounds like a perfect day. I used to love reading, would always have my nose in a book at any opportunity but find I just don't get the time anymore! I love reading in the bath - that's the only time I really get to read, but a book will last me months now whereas I used to get through a book a week.

Have to say I'd love it if it snowed heavily every night for a week so the tubes went down and I just simply couldn't get into work, preferably from the week just after new year. Christmas is too disruptive lol, I'm always too busy and can't have snow getting in the way.

GF are you a midwife aswell? We are getting married new years eve next year, so you can imagine the trouble it is causing. Not just for me but alot of my friends are nurses and midwives. I really love the idea of starting a brand new year with a new husband and new name, so hopefully it will be worth all the hassle. I have christmas off this year so can't complain. I never minded working christmas untill I had LO, what about you Danielle? xx

Yeah, well I trained to be a nurse first, then did the conversion to midwifery. They've said I can have new year off but I have to work all of christmas, which is fine. I will be sad to leave LO as so far I have managed to be with him because of mat leave and the way my shifts have fallen but it prob won't be the first time I am not there christmas day unfortunately with this job. xx

Leanne i worked Xmas too before having LO and didn't mind. Got off last year and was on Mat leave the year before. We don't know our rota for this year yet. If I'm on days I should be off but it's looking likely I'll be on nights and will be working Xmas eve night duty and the night before. A bit rubbish but at least I'd be off Xmas night and off Boxing Day. I'll just be wrecked on Xmas day

That's it, women don't stop having babies just because it is Xmas day. I've got some lovely colleagues to work with in Xmas day night so that will make it feel better. I went straight into midwifery, only been qualified two years.

Think when you work in places like that it is hard to get all those to go somewhere like a hen night etc as many will have to work, we have a very very small unit with limited staff but still works out hard to get a certain group together to go out. We literally have 4 mws for an early, a late and a night.

Both my parents were nurses so I have so much respect for those who work in health care.

I remember my dad having to work Christmas day on many occasions when I was growing up or my mum being on call. It was just normal to me that people worked on Christmas Day.

My BIL before he left the police used to work Christmas day. Don't think hubby has been called in before to work Christmas, think he always had enough colleagues willing to cover the shifts.
