What's your views on the garter? I am not siting on a chair and having my oh taking it off as really not my thing. But if I' not doing that should I have a garter at all? I know you can pick them up cheap but the ones I like are about £25-£30! So not sure if it's even worth getting one at that price if it's not going to be seen or not even sure what point of it is x

I have a black one that I wear sometimes and OH really likes it... So I will definitely be having one but I agree, the really nice ones are more pricy!

I have bought one but not sure if I will wear it as 1) unsure if it will just be annoying and rub against my skin, and 2) not sure if it will look ok under my dress as my dress is fitted around my upper thighs.
I'm not wearing it for the 'traditional' reason. Just because it's pretty and it's something you associate with the bride wearing.

We bought garters but we ended up not bothering because after the faff of getting all our dresses laced up, we couldn't be bothered to get the legs up (which is impossible in wedding dresses!) and get all hot and bothered getting it on!

I have one, it came in a set I bought (guestbook, basket and ring pillow) but I don't think I'll wear it. It's there if I change my mind though I suppose.

Mrs MW, that was after an exceptionally good September when the kids went back to school and I was on holiday between year 2 and 3 of uni.

Future MW, mine was very inexpensive, if I paid a tenner for it I think I would be going over hte top, I cannot recall off the top of my head though.

Oh that is very pretty and reasonable. Hrm, might have to look more into it nearer the time :D

I could have spent a lot more on a more 'glamorous' one but didn't see the point in spending loads of money on something I may not even wear, or may only for a couple of hours before it starts to annoy me!
I do like the idea of having one though. It's something that completes the whole bridal thing for me.

Its a shame you might not be able to wear it though :(
when you bought them did you worry about it matching your underwear or are you classing it as something seperate

Mine is the same sort of colour as my bouquet. My dress is also a "cafe" colour so it ties in with that too :)

I have one but mainly because I just associate a bride with a garter but mine was only about £8 from the bay, this is it, I got lilac as it matches our colour scheme

A garter completes the bridal outfit for me too, in a similar way to a veil. I'm only going to wear one once so may as well go for it all.
My MIL hand makes lace so has made one for me. I can't wait to wear it when its finished. X

That's what I feel that it's part of the outfit so sort of want one but I like the lace ones with the bling on but ones I like are £20 just for the applique!

Mine was my something borrowed and blue, borrowed my sister's one she had when she got married. We didn't do the whole groom takes it off, not my kinda thing. I haven't been to a single wedding actually where that happens and I've been to lots so don't think it's expected. I didn't even throw the bouquet.

I didn't bother with a garter, but I know some people use it as a way to get something blue in, if blue won't fit with their outfit.
30th August 2014 was the best birthday ever.

I spent £28 on my garter but it is from america, so you get your garter and the tossing garter, I will wear both however the only person that ewill see them is my darling new hubby on the wedding night xx

I had one from my hen night and I wore it on the day. I actually forgot I was wearing it until we got back to the hotel at the end of the night
