Ordered a garter last week which was only about £2 and is lovely, lacey and perfect for the wedding day.

Was feeling ok about my weight - 5'5, size 12, not exactly slim but not huge either. UNTIL I tried the garter on! God my legs looks huge, dont know if the garter is extra small or what but it nips right in and all my fat bulges either side!!! How much is liposuction??? :'( xxx

Even if I put it just above my knee it doesn't look great :-/ Maybe I can carve some of my thighs off?!?!?!?!?! My thighs have always been my worst bit!! I can never wear hold ups because of that reason also. Even when I was relatively skinny, my thighs were still out of proportion boohoo (lol) xx

Fran behave! I'm not a snob and I love a bargain but at £2 I wouldn't say that there's something wrong with your thighs hun! Pop into a local bridal shop and try one on, that'll be a better gauge for you :) I had to get mine from a plus size bridal shop, I also got my dress there so listen to chunky here, you're lovely as you are, just try a few different ones till you're happy :) x

I second trying another one :-) That said, I'm 5'7" and a size 8-10, and while my garter isn't tight, it kinda makes my thigh look fat lol; maybe it's just to do with where they sit that isn't that flattering or something?

D'hams have a couple of nice ones and they're not too dear; about £10-ish :-)

Don't despair. They normally are around 22inches, I needed 25 inches, to fit my large thighs. I'm 5'6 and a size 12 perhaps 14. But I have always had chunky thighs.

Some garters are so beautiful. Are you doing a garter toss?

I decided to get my garter in my partners fathers tartan. We have nothing Scottish themed in our wedding, even though his dad is a scot. I thought I'd pay tribute, and it came the other day... So excited. Have you got a picture of yours?

Don't worry hun, I'm sure it's fine, don't forget it needs to be slightly snug fitting otherwise you'll end up like me on the wedding day........................... garter round your ankle because it had slipped down from not being tight enough, I had to hoik my dress up to pull it back up my leg, ended up with it right up the top of my thigh by my groin basically to avoid it slipping down again, this was outside whilst we were having photos taken at the reception venue. Not attractive and rather embarrassing, luckily it was only hubby my 2 bridesmaids and the photographer with me at the time so I just got the photographer to turn around whilst I adjusted myself lol.

I'm sure it's not as bad as you think.
