As a fair few of you know my father in law died of a sudden heart attack in June at only 49 while out on a bike ride. My lovely husband is putting on a fundraiser in his dads memory to fundraise for the BHF. He is looking at next month but not finalised yet and were struggling with a few ideas to go alongside the main event.
The main event is a 5 hour football match with roll on/roll off subs, so people can play a fair game and keep swapping the players every 20 mins or so, or as they wish. We've decided on doing a big batch of cakes, a little tuck shop for sweets & drinks and face painting for kids. But we're stuck on anything else! A bouncy castle was suggested but don't think the insurance of the venue would cover it, so it's probably a no-go.
Oh, we're also making a list of companies to arrange prizes for a raffle and will have donation buckets out too.
Can anyone come up with any suggestions to bring some money in to the event on the day?

Few ideas...
Guess the weight of the ________ (fill in the blank!). We went to a doggy day last weekend and they had guess the weight of the puppy. People had to pay 20p per entry and the winner/s got a prize at the end.
Could you do a car boot sale kind of thing? Ask friends and family if they have anything they'd like to donate like old books/cds/clothes and sell them at the event with all proceeds going to the charity?
(By the way what a lovely thing for your husband to do) xx

Guess the weight will be a good idea, thanks :)
The only trouble is with it being football it's a huge outdoor pitch so will be outside and can't guarantee the weather. I wouldn't like to chance anything on a boot sale getting ruined like you say clothes etc.
Thanks floss xx

What a lovely thing your husband is doing. My ideas:
Guess the name of the teddy bear and you win the teddy.
Guess the number of sweets in a jar.
Do a no hands eating contest. The entrants pay a fee.

That's a brilliant idea haha! That could get messy
What about ideas for prizes for things like that? Obviously for 'guess the weight' just give the thing you're guessing.
It might sound stingy but again I'd ask family or friends if they have anything they could donate. Maybe like unopened Christmas presents such as bottles of alcohol or smellies etc! xx

You could ask local shops if they would like to donate something. If you have a hotel nearby , they might donate a nights stay, or a day of golfing from a local golf place. Or a retail shop might give a voucher towards their shop.

We used to run a bottle tombola at a local chair fete and always went down a treat! B@rcl@ys sponsored it and would double what we made so maybe ask around if anyone does anything like that
Was going to say what Mrs T said about donations. if not tune in on peoples skills. If someone has a flash car say a day being chauffeured in car. If someone can make a good cake that can be another prize etc

Great idea about contacting local businesses/suppliers! Also things like vouchers for hairdressers, beauty appointments, massages, exercise classes, gym memberships etc. At the end of the day it's free advertising for local companies so they should be happy to donate a little something xx

Can you ask a local football team to donate a signed ball or shirt? Or even ask if a player would come down and sign autographs for a small charge?
Perhaps to stick with the footy theme you could do a penaly shoot out by getting one of things that covers a goal and has different sized holes in to aim the ball through (sorry I have no idea what that would be called) and people get a minute to try to score as many as possible. X
