I have finally found a recipe that works for my fudge favours. I have also purchased pretty silver cupcake boxes to fill with my fudge and I have left over ribbon from my wedding staionary to tie around them. However, I feel I need to line my box with something? A pretty greaseproof paper or something similar? Does anyone know what I should be looking for and if it has pattern or colour on it then what type of paper should I be getting so that it is food safe?

**************************** NO LINKS IN THE FORUM PLEASE READ THE RULES

This is the recipe that I am using. I am also doing a different type of fudge made with cream, icing sugar chocolate, butter and vanilla essence. I will be doing the one in the recipe (traditional boil up fudge) then white and dark chocolate fudge with the non conventional recipe. Basically you melt 100g of choc over a pan of boiling water in a glass bowl at the same time as melting 50g of butter with the choc. Then you take off the heat (careful not to steam burn yourself when you take the bowl off the pan) and add 3 tbsps of single cream which you stir in, also stir in 1 tspn of vanilla essence. You finally stir in 500g of sived (cant spell that word correctly!) icing sugar. This is HARD work as it forms a big ball and you have to make sure you have all of the icing sugar mixed in. Finally press into a lightly greased tin, mark out and refridgerate.

I wanted to have a variety of fudge and like I say the one with the link to the recipe is like proper fudge. The recipe described above perhaps isnt proper fudge but its much quicker to make and very tasty...it allows for 3 different flavours in everyones favour boxes too :o)

I might even mix in some smarties or maltesers to the icing sugar fudges (they wont melt as the mixture cools very quickly)

How about the little doilies you can get some of those are really pretty and the small coaster size ones would fit lovely in a cupcake box, and you can get different colours so you could match them to your wedding colours xx

in all honesty I dont know, food colouring may make the mixture runny so it wont set as well but worth a try x

    Fabulous idea!!

Kisy: If you use food colouring gel it does not affect the consistency of the mixture :)

Cake cases is a good idea. I was thinking about going to the florists and buying a roll of celaphane (typo??) to bundle them up in. Ideally I'd find a lovely food safe pretty patterned greaseproof paper but not sure if this exists?

Hi guys, I cant remember if I mentioned that I had bought cupcake boxes to sit my fudge in but as this post reads I also wanted to pack the fudge in cellophane bags inside the boxes to protect them. I seem to be not getting on too well with finding square bags to fit my boxes that will allow for the amount of fudge I want plus I would have to tie them and I dont think any excess bag would sit in the box and allow the lid to shut, I'd probably have to cut off the top of the bag right at the ribbon tie which i think would look stupid. Hope I have described that acurately, I find it a bit hard to put into actual words lol. Anyway, as my fudge will also be sat in individual sweetie/confectionery cases do you think it would be acceptable just to sit them in the box as they are (probably 4 on the first layer and 4 on the second layer, 8 pieces of fudge in total) with just the cases around them....no cellophane bag or greasproof paper. If this is a cupcake box then surely it should be food safe? I just cant find any greasproof paper that looks nice either. :o(

oooh yes please, could I have a link for those as there seems to be a lot of cello bags to choose from. I have just purchased some food safe white greaseproof paper with silver stars on it which I thought I could put in between each layer and on the top of the fudge to keep them a bit more protected but maybe I will use cello bags if I can find the right ones x
