We wanted to do someting during our wedding day to aknowledge the angels that cannot be with us on our day, my h2b has lost both sets of grandparents, i lost my grandad 12 years ago and my best friend died 2 years ago in a motorbike accident and we would really like to do something just to rememebr them (not that we would forget but you know what i mean)
Anyway last night i had a thought and i wondered what everyone thought...As part of our package our venue is providing a fruit tree for me and my new husband to plant in the gardens of our venue in honour of us both and our wedding along with a plaque, so what i thought was that instead of planting it in our honour we could plant it in honour and menory of our lost loved ones...what do you think? xx

I think that's a wonderful idea and actually brought a tear to my eye (I'm a big softy). Your wedding venue sounds amazing, can't believe they let you plant things in honour of your wedding.

i know i was amazed when i read it in the package, at first h2b wasn't too fussed about it but i think its rather sweet, the gardener digs the hole ready and then they provide a spade etc so the photographer can take pics of us "planting" it and then the gardener finishes the job and puts up a plaque x

That is so sweet. I was trying to think of something poetic to suggest for the plaque but couldnt quite get it to work. I just like the idea of looking back in rememberance at the start of a new beginning. Which I guess is a little poetic just like that.

Ive just mentioned it to h2b and he thinks it's a bit morbid. I'll talk him round :-) I said i thought it would be nice to mention it in his speech and i think because he doesn't want to speak for very long as he's quite shy it means it's extra he's got to say lol. Do you think the registrar would mention it? Also do you think the venue would change the wording on the plaque as I'm assuming it would just say our names and wedding date x
