So I got engaged in January after living with my partner for over 2 years and being with him for three. We have not booked a venue until now as we have been moving house and it's just been to much. I asked one of my oldest friends if she will be bridesmaid, she has been married about 5 years ago and i felt she would like to do it, she said yes she would like to do it. I have finally booked the venue for march 2013 and got myself very excited. I have started telling my friends to keep the date free and told my friend the date and that it is going to be next year, I did originally tell her it might be in 2014 if we couldn't afford to do it next year. I text her and when I had still not heard from her 3 days later after 2 texts I sent her an email asking if her phone was broke and she replied saying she had been busy and that she thought she should be able to make the wedding, but march is always cold and might be snowing and that she thought we were getting married in 2014. I just feel hurt and upset, I have never been a bridesmaid but I'm sure if I had been asked I would be jumping at the chance. All my other friends have been really excited, I have explained to her that march is a special month for us as that's when we got together and that's why we wanted it then. I just really don't no what to do now, do I just ask her what her problem is or wait to see if she changes her attitude? Help x x

give her a wee bit of time, are you only going to have one bridesmaid? you could have two and pick someone who you know will be interested and help you out? Im also getting married in March 2013 and i realy do hope is snows lol, unrestrict your page so i can add you as a friend, what is your wedding date im the 8th.xxx

Yes I was going to have just one and then a few flower girls, but maybe I will have another bridesmaid. I'm getting married on the 8th to, how random lol. Where are you getting married? I've not made any plans yet, only just booked the venue this week. So much to do. How are you getting on? X x

As for friend, what a sweetie, making it about her, absolute charmer! See what the deal is and sack her if she starts getting lary or cheeky! Too many bms on here think they can dictate the way the day's gonna go from venue to their outfit/ accessories. It's YOUR day, no one elses! Nip it in the bud quick. I'm sure it's just a bit of shock at sudden booking :) xx

We get the same stick about a March wedding but Julies right, it's much much brighter in March as spring is well on its way. This year there was a mini heart wave in March! I highly doubt it'll snow and if it does it'll make for beautiful pictures anyway!
What did she say when you explained your choice in month? If she's still being weird about it I'd ask her what her problem is.

She has never got back to me when I explained about my choice of month, will have to see if she gets back to me soon. Thanks for your support, I am wondering myself now if we should have done it in 2014 to give ourselves some more time. Suppose there is just so much to think about x x

Ah we were gonna do it with 3months to plan- got it all organised too, just funds made us postpone. Makes me laugh how people judge on wedding dates- hello, it's our day, not yours, we plan according to personal reasons not to please anyone else!
Maybe she was planning/ considering a holiday at that time of year and is feeling slightly put out? Give her a few days, if she's so close to be your bm you've a right to expect her to speak to you about whats going on xx

Yeah I no, I don't really understand but she does not go awa that often as she has a toddler and she as to fit it around nursery but I'm sure theres a good reason. I will just have to give her time to talk to me x x

In nursery they can go on hol when they like its when they're in school they can't- i work in a nursery lol xx
