I read a very good tip in a magazine about babies cutting teeth I don't know if it is any good or not apparently though if you have those wee ice lolly moulds just pour some baby juice into the mould pop it in the freezer and make a wee mini lolly for the baby and it will help soothe their sore gums but at the same time it's still healthy for the baby as it's made from their own baby juice xx

yeh i agree with joolsy - i do ALOT of looking after my cousins and the youngest is teething just now and the cold really seems to cool her gums down, you can also get toys that you pop in the freezer aswel ( as babies seem to put everythin in their mouths lol)

when i was younger my granda used to rub a tiny amount of rum on my gums - apparently thats what they did before teething rings etc and because it was such a small amount in doesnt cause harm - i always loved visiting their house lol

Have you tried anbesol liquid and parsons teething powder? That's the only thing that would help mine.

Cheryl, I wouldn't advise sticking it in the freezer, just the fridge, as there have been cases of the toys sticking to the babies tongue and not coming off, and then having to go to the dentist to get it sorted out :(

a cold carrot to chew on?... my youngest is nearly 9 months old and we havent seen any sign of teeth yet, but my 2 year old like cold carrots cos they were nice and hard for him and the coldness made it feel better xxx

Steffi, I don't know what to suggest apart from the fact that I sympathise completely with my 6 month old at the same stage although luckily doesn't sound as bad as you at the mo... I have found the gel works if I put his dummy in straight away afterwards to stop him from just licking it all off and swallowing it. We also get ice-lollies and let him have a little taste. I've got those powders but can't say that's helped too much. & when he gets really bad I also give him ibuprofen cos that reduces swelling and seems to help but I know you've tried all these... the good news is it won't last forever but I bet your exhausted right now :( xx

you can get special teething dummies from tesco or boots or somewhere.. they're gum shaped.. so you can put teething stuff on it and stick it in their mouth.. they can chew and suck it and it makes sure the gel/powder gets onto the right places..

Also sweet, if you give baba calpol at 9am (example) and then nurofen baby at 11am (again example) then the calpol will be wearing off but you can still give medicine within the 4 hour thing...
Hope this may help a bit xx
