I would love to have got married in France as i'm half french and my God Father is a priest, but H2b wasn't too keen on the idea.....have yet to tell him that we may well be going there next year to have the wedding blessed by my god father lol. Maybe do a google search to find venues, we're from the west coast (Brittany) and i love that area, but it depends were you want to be. There are some lovely little towns and villages, or even the south of france on the beach.....xx

A blessing would be lovely. We've found the venue (virtually) in the Dordogne - going there in Auigust for a holiday to check it out and get it booked. We wanted somewhere the guests could all stay on-site to reduce transport costs etc so found a stunning old congac farm with little cottages for guests to stay in.

There is someone else on here who is French but I can't remember her name off hand. If I remember who it is I will let you know. She might be able to help you out with some venues and locations as well as some local vineyards.

We wanted to get married in the South of France, but there is SO much stuff you need to do it if you're not French. You had to get some different papers drawn up by a French lawyer, have a medical exam, get a certificate of celibacy issued, live there for 40 days in the town you wanted to get married in. And the French apparently don't recognize any religious ceremonies at all, and the legal marriage has to be performed at a French city hall... you could always get legally married in England and have a blessing in France. x

My parents got married in a registry office in the UK one day, then travelled to france and had my God Father give them a blessing in the Catholic church, so now they always argue about when their anniversary is. My dad says the 08 August, and my mum says the 10th, lol.

I think with them though it was different as mum's french so they didn't have any things to prove etc etc....x

We were going to do it in either Paris or a place (can't remember where exactly) that did a wedding for 50 people with accommodation for everyone for £7000. But we couldn't wait that long to save it up so opting for a church wedding in our local parish instead. But we love France and will be having a belated honeymoon in Paris maybe next year. xx

No we'll be taking the wedding cake with us (will be interesting seeing how it does on the journey from Bedfordshire to the Dordogne!).

The cost we've been given for 100 guests is amazing it's half the price of what it would cost us here and in a beautiful location. Guests will be paying between 11-35 euros per person per night for 4 or 5 star accomadation!!
