As most of you girls have probably read a few times already, I have been trying to conceive for 2 years, unsuccessfully! I have an extreme case of polycystic ovary syndrome and been told I'm infertile. I've never had much help from GPs and specialists and all the medication I have been put on have never made any difference, which has been really hard for me and h2b. I'm hitting in on the nail by saying "its been sole destroying".. Anyway, I was in town today and thought I'd pop in to a well known health store, ending with barrat beginning with Holland.. I had a little chat with the woman who worked there about my health and she recommended a natural herb tablet called Angus Castus, apparently this is the herb of choice for helping to restore hormone imbalance and increasing fertility. So I brought it, 6 quid for 100 pills which you need to take 2 pills twice daily.. I got home and thought I'd research it and I can not believe I never heard of it or brought it sooner. The reviews people have posted have been awesome, not a bad word said about it and Infertility experts are raving about it. I've found a website that gives you LOTS of info on natural stuff like vitamins and herbs that you should be taking if you have PCOS or even if your just trying for a baby.. if any of you want it, ask and I can post it on your wall. I'm totally raving about it now and I'm hoping I'll still be raving about it in 3 months time but from what I've read I'm a bit angry I wasn't told to try it sooner!!

Yeah, I have to loose weight too and lots of it but I've got this new found enthusiasm and I'm going to make sure that it happens! I'll post this website to you, as it has alot of stuff on there on what foods you should be eating and whats good for PCOS symptoms.. apparently a herd called Saw Palmetto (Serenoa repens) is really good for the excess hair symptom! xx

its great you've found something that may very well help you, but please be careful taking them, i took vit b tablets (which i bought from the shop you mentioned) after being recommended them by a friend, and having a search about first. I had a severe allergic reaction to the ONE tablet i took, i was in the house on my own with my 2 yr old son and am very lucky i managed to phone my mum for help when i did as i very nearly passed out, had a nasty rash, very high temp, sweating etc. The pharmacist i went to said he was amazed that vit b in that high an mg can be sold off the shelf, and then binned the lot for me.
Not saying this would happen to you, but if taking any new medication/vitamins/supplements make sure you're not alone in case you do react.

Good luck with them, I hope they are as good as the reviews make out!

I have looked up side effects and allergic reactions to it, as I am very wary of taking any meds and vit supplements etc without knowing what they really are, whats in it, what they can do etc.. thats how I came across the mentioned website. I won't even take paracetamol unless its anadin, as I know I'm ok on them but in this case, everything seems to be ok but obviously I don't know untill I try them and IF it really could help, even the slightest little bit then I'm going to risk it :-) I know its just a herb and some people may think I'm over reacting on how brilliant it is that I've found it but I need something to keep me going and giving me that little bit of hope, even if it is just a capsule full of herbs! lol

Quite a few people have said to me in the past "have you tried herbal medicine?" and I never had and never thought I would but I'm glad I have decided to try it, if nothing happens atleast I tried and this website is great for other things to do with PCOS too.. I'll post it to your wall now :-) good luck to your friend xxx

Hope it works for you hun. Thought I'd share my story, may give you some hope, although I appreciate everyone's different so what works for someone doesn't necessarily work for the next person. I was struggling to get pregnant had all sorts of tests done & they told me I had PCOS after a while they put me on Clomid, think they gave me 3 months worth anyway nothing happened I was completely disheartened and gave up convinced I'd never have kids, went on holiday not even thinking about it anymore then when returned from hols had another appointment & they gave me a further prescription however I didn't need to take them as shortly after that appointment I found out I was pregnant!!! I just could not believe it then when ourdaighter was 9 mths old we thought I came off pill as we thought it would take years again & a month later I was pregnant!! I truly believe that in my case it was down to the fact that I wasn't stressed out about getting pregnant as had put it out of my mind although this isuch easier said than done, the obly reason i was able to do it the first tome as i gave up all hope.

Something that may also help is reflexology, I went to see a reflexologist when I was pregnant as I suffered terribly with my pelvis could barely walk but after seeing her the results were amazing. She td me that she had done reflexology on ladies struggling to conceive and then they got pregnant! Might be a load of rubbish but anything's worth a shot hey?

Good luck my love, I hope the herbal tablets help.

    Lots of love xxxx

Congratulations! Thats really lovely, I bet you were so shocked? A friend of mine was trying for 7 years and after 2 failed attempts at IVF she decided it was time to give up and try face the fact she just wasn't going to be a mummy and then about 8 months after deciding she had to give up she went for a routine check at her GP and found out she was pregnant, then at her 12 week scan she found out it was twins! Through all the stress she had lost alot of weight and they think that helped her. I think it may be the same with me, I'm over weight, I'm not healthy, I don't have any periods at all, the last one I had was brought on from provera and its called a "fake period". I don't know when the last time I ovulated was, my gp seems to think I may of never ovulated, both of my overies were completely empty when I had my last scans. I've been trying to get clomid for about 18 months and I have no chance untill my BMI goes from what is now (around 40) down to 28!! I've been even considering getting it in other ways other than the usual way, weight lifters use it! I'm just desperate and I will try anything. I've got the wedding coming up though and I'm hoping that will take my mind off things and after the wedding things might be different! Thanks for your story though, its great to know it can happen xxx

How lovely for your friend, just shows how mixed up your body can be. Perhaps weight loss will help although I know larger ladies that have conceived. Wishing you lots of luck xxx

I know alot of really large women that are pregnant at the moment! and it really makes my blood boil when the gp just puts it down to my weight. I totally agree that PCOS symptoms are made worse by the weight but I don't think its right to completely put it down to me being a big girl. But I'm doing everything I can to shift the weight, I will just be gutted if all this hard work ends up being for nothing! x
