I'm undecided upon having some kind of canapes between my ceremony and or the sit down meal.
My itinerary says that the wedding at church is at 1pm and lasts around 45 minutes. I then have a further 30 minutes within the church and grounds to have a list of photographs taken, taking the time to around 2:15.
I have then allowed 45 minutes for travel to the reception venue, due to Saturday traffic and the distance it will take from A to B. Taking the start of the reception drinks to 3pm.
We then have 45 minutes for reception drinks (so me and H2b can sneak off for a small amount of private photographs) before the receiving line, ready to sit down at 4pm for the wedding breakfast.
My question to everyone is:
Would you have drinks of bubbly at the church with canapes (vicar already approved) Would you have canapes at the reception or both?!

no i wouldn't have anything at the church ..... who will bring it /serve it/ collect glasses at the end
I agree with Lala! For logistics if you were going to have canapés and drinks I would do it at the reception venue.

I wouldn't do anything at the church either. Maybe if someone volunteered to take care of it for me, but I wouldn't warmth the cost/responsibility for sorting it out and finding someone to clean it up.
I agree with everyone else. I think it's a lovely idea to have them at the Church, but it's the logistics unfortunately

2 things, firstly I agree with others about serving the food etc.
Secondly, you need to factor in the possibility that you may be running late, I was 20 minutes late to the church on our wedding day despite swearing i wouldn't be late.

I would wait until you got to the reception and have them served when the guests arrived. They could easily have something light to eat before hand or have a late breakfast.

I agree with waiting until you get to the reception.
With a 1pm ceremony, people will have had to chance to eat something substantial beforehand; they won't starve if they have to wait until 3pm for canapes. I also think it could be a bit rushed serving them at the church, as you only have 30 minutes; by the time people have filtered to wherever they're being served, they'll have to bolt them down lol
If you're worried about people being thirsty maybe you could serve soft drinks in disposable cups? Easier to transport to the venue, and they can just be chucked away after.
