When do you think the best time is to start actually looking to book both of these ?
H2B is doing the cake, but I need to know whens best to start nagging him ;-) I said no later than June/July next year.. Thats enough time right ??
And my flowers, I know exactly what I want for me and MOH and have ideas for groomsmens button holes.... So when shall I go and book someone ? xxx

I've booked all the big things except for these.. My H2B won't even entertain the idea of looking at booking the cake until next year at the earliest.. But I'll definitely see when my mums available to go flower shopping :-) xxx

I booked my flowers in November last year (for my may 2014 wedding) and sorted my cake last week but it is a family member doing it. If I was having a proper baker I would of had it done months ago. xx

Yep that sounds like the best thing to do MrsH-2b. If things are already being booked up in 2015 then we better get a shift on to decide for deifnate if it is abroad or not. It's hard booking things when I do not have a job yet :(

OMG !! How weird is this !!! After your replies, I text my mum and said I want to start looking to book my flowers next month and she said Ok.. My next door neighbough is a florist, I've known her since we moved into that house when I was 2, so my mum was going to go over for me and ask if she'd do my flowers BUT (and this NEVER happens!!) The postman had left a parcel for H2B at her house - she's our next door neighbough but has a corner plot so her garden is massive and is whats next to our house, her front of her house is actually around the corner.. Postie usually leave packages with out righthand side nextdoor neighboughs but they're in Ireland for 6 weeks so they took it to her instead !! - and she brought it round a minute ago and mum asked if she would do my flowers and she said she'd be honoured :-D :-D So thats my flowers sorted !!!!! Can't believe it !!! Haha xxx

We have spoken to our cake lady already, we know she gets booked up VERY quickly so wanted to ensure that we could get in her diary. We get married May 2014 and completed cake tasting and spoke with her about our actual design and flavours etc in May just gone.
In terms of flowers, my Mums best friend is a florist and has agreed to do our flowers for us, we again spoke with her about our needs and decided on flowers in advance. We did this in Feb/March just gone. She has informed us to speak with her for final decisions around February 2014.
I'd say there's no harm in speaking with people now to ensure you are in the diary.

I've had no dramas with less than a year securing anyone for an end of May date. Might be different for june july dates. But theres always a solution anyway.

My H2B is in charge of cake.. I know the more I nag the more he'll drag his heels lol.. So I'll just keep gently reminding him every now and again :-) I'm so happy about my flowers :-) xxx

We're having a cheesecake. The display one will only have 3 tiers but to feed as many as we have we need 3 more made up in the back. Half is strawberry topping with shortbread base, the other half is chocoate & caramel topping with a digestive base. I cant wait :) x

Ooh yummy I saw something similar in a wedding mag with a cheesecake on top tier and then lots of mini cheesecakes but oh wasnt sold xx
