Hi, I am new on here and literally only joined last week....basically I am getting married Sept 2012 at Oriel House, St Asaph and am on a very tight budget due to having two children under 4 and saving for our first house. My theme is Vintage/country garden and would love lots of flowers in jars as the centre peices but cant afford anywhere near the quoted prices...I was wondering/hoping any of you might be able to point me in the right direction of someone who can arrange flowers/boquets for me as a foreigner possibly, as I am hoping to buy the flowers wholesale! finding it hard to do this cheaply!!any ideas/help would be soo appreciated! thanks for reading and sorry for going on! x

Totally misunderstood the title but I think that has more to do with my dirty mind.

    Welcome to the site!!!

Maybe email all florists in your area and get quotes then try and knock them down a little. I imagine small out of towm florists would be able to give better value for money than the big comapanies. Have you thought possibly about doing them yourself or family or friends? I know that my sister in law got all hers from a wholesalers flower market and saved a fortune on florists prices.

This may not be your cup of tea but have you thought about silk or foam flowers? They sell a huge range on bay of e, they are so realistic and many many women choose this option....myself included. xxx

    Thanks for your reply Stevie_Dee!

Haha love that your mis-interpreted the title, its the kind of thing i would do, had i not wrote it!

Yes I think I might do that although I'm still not sure what kind of flowers I want. I know I want roses as the bouquets BUT i have seen some really nice pictures of loads of carnations in vases (i know most people dont like them cos they are cheap looking and i was the same but when you have loads together they're pretty beautiful and cheap - bonus!)

I dont really know anyone who is that good at flowers tbh - my mum wants to have a go but she says things like that and then forgets about it lol!

I am actually having some artificial flowers anyway, as I am having teacups and saucers as favours with a artificial rose in each one (looks lot prettier then it sounds) and im also having some nice fake roses i got off ebay to wrap round a wire manequin im having by the cake! its soo hard to do it on a budget isnt it? i keep getting carried away!!x

I know completely what you mean about the rose in a teacup, I've seen pics of examples and they look very classy and vintage.

Some ladies on here are choosing flowers by their meaning which is quite nice. You can search for a list of the meaning of flowers on google.

I think a lot depends on season if you are choosing real flowers, so maybe look around at florists in September of this year or if you cant wait that long do a search of whats around in those months.

What colours are you having hun? It may be an idea to ask the ladies on here for flower suggestion for a particular colour or colours and then maybe research what suggestions you like best. The ladies on here love helping so you should get some good ideas. xxx

Well, the colours i am thinking is sage green and ivory with a hint of dusky pink (im not a pink person but thought that would look nice) I might ask the other ladies then yeah thanks....do I start a new thread for that?

good idea re looking at flowers in september - I really am clueless when it comes to flowers. I think roses mean love but thats about it!oh Golly I have a lot to think about dont i?! I only have the venue, church and photographer booked!!argh!

So how about you? whats your theme and colours?

    xxx
