Hey, just wondering what sorta questions the vicar asks at the fist visit?
We have decided to set our date for June 8th 2013. He had pencilled us in and booked to see us on 22nd feb. Just wondering what he will ask, said there is a form to be filled in...what does this entail?
    Many thanks

    Hi Holly

We met our vicar for the first time last Tuesday - we were a bit nervous as we've never been to his church before, but he turned out to be really friendly & very helpful. We had to fill out an application for the banns (we're CoE) before we met with him. He just checked that everything we'd filled in was correct (names, addresses, dob's, fathers occupation, whether you have been christened etc), he then went through the cost & booked us in for a rehersal in the week before our wedding. He told us when the Banns would be read & that we should try to come if we could & he then went through the order of service with us and asked us what hymns and readings we would like. We had only decided on one hymn so far and not sure about reading so he said if we let him know later that would be fine. The next time we will see him is in April for the Banns to be read.

Hope you get on ok - It made it seem very real to us!

Oh am glad someone asked this as it's making me a little nervous too. We have too churches to choose from. I know h2b prefers one but have to go and see the vicar first. Good luck.

We had to go to a wedding prep day with other couples who are getting married in our church in the same month we are. we did lots of discussion on what makes a good relarionship and the importance of marraige. then they went through the order of the service and discussed some possible readings and hymns that we might like. I had filled in the banns application before the day and this was just checked.
Its exciting to meet the vicar as it makes it all seem real.
    have fun
    xx

He said there is forms to fill in. I know he is going to ask about hymns and all sorts but my and h2b haven't even started to discuss it. With him working all hours and having a 10month old to look after.
My h2b is not very enthusiastic, to be honest, never had been. So he wouldnt have even began to think bout anything. He will get into it about 2 months before! Lol x
Bit worried we are going to seem like we don't care or we aren't 100% sure about getting wed, we are as we were supposed to be getting married last yr, but I fell pregnant so we decided to put it off.
    Any advice? x
