So I'm wondering what people are doing for the first dance and beyond. As in when will the fotb come in to dance with you and the motb dance with the groom? Will you dance the whole first song together or will it be cut short by people joining you/dancing with family?
I feel like I want the whole first dance just to be me & h2b - but will people just start to join us? I caneasily tell my dad at what point I want to dance with him - but it won't be for the first dance song.
We may have 2 slow songs to start and I was thinking No1 will be just me & h2b, then song 2 can be where people join us etc.

We had dance lessons for our first dance, but we chose a piece of music that was fairly short so we didn't have to learn too much! We danced the whole thing on our own and went straight into 'Don't stop Believing' afterwards, which was a complete floor-filler.

Hubby and I had dance lessons too before the big day and had a fully choreographed dance. After our full first dance I picked a father daughter dance and then it was just me and my dad on the dance floor, it was so special.

We aren't too confident at dancing, so have specifically asked sil and bil and partners, plus mil and moh and partner to join us about halfway through, which hopefully will encourage others to join in...that's only because I don't think we could cope with a whole song dancing on our own! Xx

We didn't have any dance lessons and danced the song by ourselves.
It was lovely, just me and Husband!!
He sang to me, spoke to me and kissed me, it was really special.

We have the same idea as you LauraJo :) neither of us enjoy dancing like "that" - especially with everyone watching so we're asking couples close to us to join us on the dance floor halfway through

im not too sure on what to do i love the idea of having just me and my h2b on the dancefloor esp as he choose our song because it reminded him of me john holt - i wanna wake up with you but h2b says he cant dance and he will be too embarressed to dance in front of everyone not sure what to do but we have a little time left to talk about it lol

We did whole first dance just the two of us - and tbh neither of us would've noticed if there was even anyone else in the room! You will be so wrapped up in each other. Husband sang the whole song to me - and we could've been in our kitchen or in front of the queen - I wouldn't notice. Just have a cuddle and sway about a bit - it will be fine :-)
We had tempations my girl following our first dance and it filled the floor - party style straight after x

I think it would be nice with just you and your husband. It's a once in a lifetime, and as Rachels post suggests it's nice to have that time to yourself. X

Well it looks like my idea has been blown out of the window as mentioned it to h2b earlier and he said he actually wants the whole dance to just be me and him ! Odd for someone who can't dance, won't dance. >.<

As a word of warning from the wise....

Consider the length of your song VERY carefully. We had Lou Reed's Perfect day. IT SEEMED TO GO ON FOREVER!!!!!! You can tell from our wedding video that at the beginning we are really into the dancing lark, as are our guests watching us but towards the end of the dance, you can clearly see we are wishing it'd be finished, as were our guests!

Ours was ridiculously long i think. Perhaps the DJs fault for getting an extended version or something. In that case, you might want to invite your guests up with you.

Our song is 210 seconds lol
I do think after 60 of these I'll be concious of everyone watching - however I also think I'll be so caught up in the moment that those 210 seconds will fly by. It doesn't seem like a long time when it's put into seconds!!!

i totally hate it when after like 2 seconds the bride and groom and trying to bring the guests onto the dance floor, its supposed to be bride and groom together all lovly and staring into each others eyes, totally in love
