Hi all, I don't know if there is any advice anyone can give me but I'm feeling a little stressed and way behind in the planning stakes.

We still have so much to get done, not got the dress, cake or photographer yet although I've seen a couple I like. I haven't even sorted the stds out although I've made a start. I just don't ever seem to find the time. I always say to myself I'll get this or that done tonight but by the time the kids are in bed and I've done the housework, been on here (lol) I am too tired or it's time for bed! I so wish we had booked the wedding for the year after then I could have enjoyed planning without all this stress!!!

Anybody else on the same boat? Xx

try not to stress so much you still have time. if it was me i would make a list of the most important things that need to be arranged first and take it from there. i found a few suppliers in my area on this site actually, so why not kill to birds with one stone and have a look at the headers at the top of the page most cater for all budgets so no mater what your price you will find something and feel free to ask us all for help being brides ourself we will all have been on sites and can recommend places for you to look at makes things much easier and quicker and a bit less hassle for your self xx

You don't mention if you have a venue yet? if you do, then great, if not sort that out first, then things like the photographer, cake, etc... invites can wait till later on I think, as they are not "bookable" if you know what I mean.

We too have been planning for about a year (getting married in july next year), but it's not impossible to get a wedding together in under a year. A friend of ours got hers organised in nine months, so it can be done. You just have to make time, and get H2B involved as well.

Dont worry to much about your dress you've still got quite a bit of time unless your getting it from somewhere that requires you to order it six months inadvance. I only ordered my cake yesterday, you've still got plenty of time for that to. If your getting married on a Saturday you should maybe make the photographer a priority cos they get booked up quickly. Where are you thinking of getting your dress from hun?

Its difficult sometimes to fit everything you want to do in a day, try not too stress as the more you do the more you will feel disheartened about planning.

Question- are save the date cards that crucial? Given you've only 9 months left, could you not skip straight to the day invites, evening invites can be sent out 6-8 weeks before the day...... That would be one thing ticked off the list! This is what I've done, we got engaged end of dec and decided to marry this October so I didn't bother with stds, just a thought.

Also, are you having bridesmaids/ best man? Could they not help with getting quotes from photographers and recommendations from friends?

You do need to sort your dress a.s.a.p though as they do take a while to be made, could you arrange a day with you mum/ step mum or family member/ bestys to try dresses on and get you in the mood for weddingy things?

Sometimes you just need a kick in the right direction and, as you've been on here I'm sure you've picked up some ideas of what you like so perhaps after you've got your dress you will find the motivation to do the rest!

Good luck Hun and remember, try not to stress and let it ruin your planning! Xx

Could you take a couple of days off work to do nothing other than wedding bits? What about roping in BMs and other friends/family to help you?!

I wouldnt bother with save the date cards hun unless you think they are crutial. I am having them but only because I am getting married in the middle of the school summer holidays and there are some important people I dont want to book their summer holiday at that time.

Also get your BM;s and H2B to help, delegate xx

Don't worry hun! You can do it!

My sister organised her entire wedding in 6 months and it was the most perfect day!

STD's can be e-mailed out so there is no expense and done very quickly.

The most important things to ensure you do first in this order are the venue(s), dress, photographer, cake, transport, flowers & other decorations, BM's outifits and groomsmens outfits, hair/makeup, rings and invites can be done much nearer the time.

Don't forget to get help from the rest of the bridal party - BM's and family hopefully can help out with things.

Good luck and keep us posted! Let us know if you need help with anything.

Don't worry, you'll manage it just fine. You have lots of time! I work stupid hours and have had exams lately so haven't really sorted anything until last month or so- I only have 3 and a bit weeks now and I have a few bits to do but am finally learning to delegate! I booked venue and registrar early then just got bits and pieces on internet whilst commuting etc and it all seems to have come together OK.
Remember they do it in 3 weeks on 'don't tell the bride'- worth watching for inspiration! xx

Thanks for all the messages of reassurance girls and guys. I have the venue, church, hair and makeup, entertainment, cars and venue decoration/chair covers booked and in the last couple of days I have booked the photographer. I'm going to look at more dressed on Friday and Saturday and have contacted a cake company. I suppose it's just bugging me that I can't take my time to choose suppliers as I know things get booked up quickly. I always get a feeling of dread when I've posted the deposit cheque that I've chosen the wrong supplier and I could have found a better deal.

The photographer was my biggest headache as I wanted to get that right for obvious reasons. In the end I've gone for the guy who's style I liked most but not totally sure I like him as a person :/ it's done now though and I couldn't afford to spend any more time looking especially as I'm a stay at home mum and have totals the children with me. H2b works away during the week too so a lot of the decisions fall to me. Just not enjoying the pressure if it all but I'll get there I'm sure.

I've already bought the stuff for the stds and it has a link to the website I'm setting up ( another thing todo) so feel I should send them. I should get them done I the next could of days though witha bit of luck.

I'm just glad that I have you lovely people to talk to as I think my friends have has enough of hearing about it, xx.

you still have time but i would concentrate on your dress and photographer esp photographer as they get booked so quickly! you could leave your dress until 6 months before but depends if you know what you want, i always said i wanted a princess style dress then when i tried on some hd dresses they put me off too much stuff on them here there evrywhere lol plus they were way too big for my liking lol, so i went two months ago thinking i would go for a long a line with some nice detailing on it, no didnt look right also the lace made me look 10 years older so decided to look at princess style and fell inlove with my veromia dress perfect for me not too big pretty detailing always try diff styles on though cos they look totally diff to what they do hung up good luck xx

Hi fern, thank you. I have been to a few dress shops and I think princess styles do suit me. I have found one which I think is the one but just reluctant to commit as I'm scared there'll be something I like more. I have an appointment to try it on again this weekend with my mum and sister so if they approve then I will be putting down the deposit.

Thank you for the link anni, I'd this the woman who cannot be named? I'm very tempted to get a china dress, just not sure but will be getting BM dresses so this is really helpful, xx.

Thank you anni. Have you had a dress made by her? What's the detailing like? It worries me that this would be lacking as I've heard people say about china dresses that the details are off, got example they'll use beads instead of diamantes, xx.
