yay ive just finished making my 1 of 2 wedding cakes :) spent ages making it but ive finally completed it and so happy :D one big load of my mind now! i cant post pics on here as im not yet a power user but its in my albums if anyone would like a look and tell me what you think?? my nans making my actual wedding cake this is just a novelty one :) x

well my nan and grandad used to own a bakery when i was younger and i always used to watch my nan making cakes, i made my first cake when i was 10 years old! started working for my grandparents in there bakery at 12 part time, got better as i got older used to make loads for customers in the shop and after i left college i left the bakery and now just do it as a hobby really, i do make alot of cakes for family and friends but this is my first ever wedding cake! never had any lessons or anything tho just picked all i no up from watching my nan :) and then picked up a few more tips along the way from books and stuff x

:D Thankyou! you ladies are all the first ones to see it aswel! no one else has seen it yet apart from my nan, gna be a surprise on the day...added a cheese and biscuits bord as a joke to my mum as shes made that much of a fuss over cheese and biscuits she wanted everyoen to have the choice so we had to ring around all the guests and ask them what they wanted and after all that she turned around and said i dont want cheese and biscuits i want profiteroles! lol so yeh little private joke there that im sure all the family will get lol x

wow well done susan thats really good ive been attending sugar craft classes for a few month and decided to start making cakes for family birthdays pics are in my albums if you want to have a look, they not as good as yours but i think they ok for the ist time of ever baking/ making things hope i can be as good as you are when it comes to making one for my wedding. xx

micky is soooo right! If you've got the time you should really start doing them for other people. You could start off doing them for friends of friends. My friend's parents do that and yes they only make a small profit but they only do a cake every now and again and love the fact they can help people out by not charging them the earth. You should really think about using your talents! xx

Oh wow this is amazing- you should go into business! This is better than half the professional ones I've seen, did it cost you alot to make it? I've got my heart set on bauble cakes, they look great in photos but I have yet to see one in 'real life' or eat one!

yeh ingredients and decorations do tend to get pricey but the cake was made out of ingredients we already had at home, icing costs almost £30 for a big box but still got some left over already had all my colours and everything but if you were to buy them they would be expensive. and the small decorations that i used like the wine glasses and cutlery, ribbon, box and boards ect cost about £40 all togther so with out paying for stuff i already i spent £70? it too more time than anything, took me days to make all the models and a full day to make the table. ive never heard of bauble cakes will have to have a look at them on goooooogle x
