Just wondering if there is anyone who has tried making flowers from Fimo to decorate their wedding cake with?

I love doing craft things and have been trying to make some purple roses to decorate around our wedding cake. the wedding cake we have looked at is very plain and i thought it might be a nice touch and hopefully match the bridesmaid/flower girls.

I will post photos up when i get home to see what everyone thinks....

i'm just doing them by hand. i have 5 roses so far one of which i have put the glaze on to but looking at it i think they will look more like they have been made with icing if i don't glaze them.

I would really like to make some thistles too but i will have to find someone who has done it already to see if its even possible to do such a thing.

the roses are easier to do than i thought they would be and hopefully it will look really nice beside the cake :)

I've made fimo flowers for jewellery before but never thought of using them to decorate a cake, roses always turn out good but peonies and hydrangea are quite easy to do too if you don't mind a few fiddly bits

They're lovely - just make sure your caterer cuts the cake and knows they're not edible, lol.

thanks for the comments!! not sure how many i'm going to need either might need to get cake measurements to see what looks about right.

does anyone know of any other flowers i could attempt to make?

Jo Santa - yip will definately have to make sure they don't try feeding them to people
