As a lot of people we are not made of money and are trying to do the wedding as cheap as chips without losing too much of the quality. So our idea (for those who dont know) is to have everyone come to the reception, have a hog roast and buffet which in theory should be cheaper than a 3 course seat down meal. Then not worry to much about an evening buffet. The only problem is, having recieved quotes from various places, the hog roast and buffet is not working out any cheaper.
I think it would be a lot easier if we hired a field and had a marquee. That way we could use the caters we wanted that we know are a lot cheaper. But the problem is I can't seem to find any fields that you can hire. I found one lovely one but it's too far from our church. Is there an easy way to contact a farmer? Or a special site just for field hire on line? All help appreciated.

I am doing something a bit like that hog roast and buffett in a village hall. we looked into marquees and found that renting a hall and doing it up ourselves was much cheaper. so don't rule that out.

H2B is really against getting a hall. Prob cos there are no nice ones near us, all the ones where we live are in bad need of repairing lol
