Well you can get the research done, like what car you'd want, the style of dress, colour scheme etc.

Buy magazines and use the internet for pictures and make collages of your ideas/wants.

I booked the venue 2 years before and have already got the car, my dress, my shoes, the photographer, the flowers and made the invitations. Still got Registrar, men's hire, BM dresses (although found supplier for the designs I want), tiara, make up, hair, nails, rings, cake and entertainment to do. Not sure if I'm missing anything yet.

Some things may be a bit early to book as you may change your mind but little bits that are certain or don't cost much to replace may be ok.

I agree- start now. If their books aren't open yet for 2012, ask to be contacted as soon as they are to confirm the booking.

I'm a 2012 bride, the cake shop only had a few dates left lucky mine was in there, the venue was booked up for 4 years in advance on some days! My swing band was pencilled in until they rang and said 2 people want that date so we paid deposit and other companies are booking up quick now i'm getting married November so its not normal wedding time that's really summer your getting married May now how many people get married in that month! Stuff what they think I've had arguments with companies, dress people ect
As for the wedding dress I found a shop that was lovely they put the dress on delayed order for as long as possible (6months) and that was that, I also have my bridesmaids dresses as theres 6 of them off bay of e £68 ech all hand made no way was I letting them go so I got all size 16s, some companies had brought out 2012 prices already also some are willing to do it as this years prices hope that helps sorry its long oh and technically your wedding is a million years away because in 6 months time roughly you will be saying my wedding is next year! x

it's those little things that cost a fortune really eating into the budget like favour's,b'maid dresses, thank you cards ect l know great debates and row's have came about with some wanting them others not bothering, but well if you know your colour scheme, then start buying all the little things!!
start a diary make a list of everything you will need and l do mean everything!!! find out the price!!(shop around could take a while)
then buy the lowest price thing first.. target and budget yourself,to buy and pay for something each month at payday, ticking off your list as you go!!
once you have all the things that don't need security fee's then you will be able to work your way up to the bigger one's and before you know it time will have swept past and you will be on target for pre-booking your venue. car's,dress ect xx

Hi there, I'm getting married in July 2012 and have had a far different experience. We've booked our venue, the registrar and photographer/videographer. I've booked a bridal shop visit for August and they were falling over themselves to be more than welcoming. They told me it wasn't too early as new designs out and said I needed time to think about which style suits and for budgetting purpose. I've also been getting the odd bit on the bay of e like placecards, scatter crystals and coursage bracelets for the bridesmaids. I've also been researching chair covers and those luxury extras that were on my Plan B if we can afford list so that it may be a possibility rather than a wishlist!!

glad to find some more 2012 brides! we finally booked the venue other day for may 19th 2012! it will be our 7 yr anniversary that day :) i was contacting people in feb about things and the only person who wasnt happy about it being so early was a choc fountain person who sent me a really horrid email telling me the ins and outs of chocolate and how price changes and its so far away blah blah blah but this really put me off cz i was thinking are all people like this behind the screen am i being silly BUT i am doin what someone on here mentioned the only things in the budget are the big things-dress, venue, registrar etc all the things like favor stuff, centrepieces flowers etc are on a list to get each month and my collections growing by the day. the really good thing is you can watch tings on ebay and get a bargain (my latest was 1000 scat crystals for 99p instead of £5+ like some shops charge) and if you buy something smaller each month its not so bad money wise :) sorry to ramble

i was gutted the other day- wanted 2 book this hotel for my reception and of course it was booked up they said the whole of june 2011 was booked. i thought its silly the way the wedding banns only lasts 12 months but venues, cake etc needs 2 be book asap. even my chosen time of my ceremony was taken aleady so have now got a late wedding. i would start booking things as soon as you can because in my experience ive had trouble securing places. xx

and in answer to your question, ive booked everything, even bought dress (but now hate it haha), only thing i need to do it sort my cake out them im all done and dusted!!

we were meant to be getting married this year but postponed cos of my uni course so transferred eevrything over although many companies tried to refund us instead of transferring money to new date thinking we were mad for booking so well in advance - just think it makes ya wedding insurance (if ya get any) void as you can only get that up to two years in advance but if youve already paid for stuff before ya insurance starts then ya screwed if that companies doesnt pull through with what theyve agreed, if that all makes sense?

I was exactly the same and wanted to get stuff sorted. Some companies dont take bookings for more than a year ahead, which is one problem. At least you will have more time to look and decide and if the companies dont go bust you wont lose out.

I'm a 2012 bride, I don't want to buy things like my dress just yet, I want to decide on that with about 8 or 9 months to go, so that I don't regret it or change my mind. I am thinking of all sorts of fun and cheap ideas and learning how to make things for my self. I emailed a venue the other day, only to get a lovely email back - but she did say I was thinking of things early?? Plus side the whole venue is less that £400 for 2 rooms (1 for the doo and either a old people chill room or kids play room) and all the chairs tables and set up/changes. Wow. Can't wait to go for a proper look around. Hmmm which of my friends are good at making sandwiches.

    I'm now a married woman
    I have a gorgeous husband
    Whats to do now
Theres no more wedding planning to do

i'm getting married on 19th may 2012, i have my dress, venues, shoes, photographer and car all sorted. i would def book early to get what you want. everyone we've booked with have been great and also encouraged us to book earlyu. the way i see it is that if the company is funny with you for booking early then they clearly dont want your custom. the photographer i have is completely booked up for 2011 so if we'd have waited then the chances are we wouldnt have got him x

we're getting marrie don 2nd june 2012 and we've already booked and paid the deposit at our venue, they only had about 6 saturdays left in 2012 when we booked it 2 months ago!

Definately start booking things now and at the very least do some research and find pictures/ideas of dresses/flowers/decorations etc, it gives you a head start!

I know how you feel i am getting married in september 2012 and i have been told by loads of people i cant talk to them until january febuary time. I cant understand why as the venue we wanted for the hotel we went to see and i was told my date was booked so i cant have that. We are looking at having it in the first venue we saw now. I am going dress shopping on thursday but i will proberley be told i am doing it to soon.

I dont understand all the mags tell you to book when you find something you love coz they go early but when you try you get told to come back in 4 months?

hi hun im getting married on the 5th of may 2012 i already have my dress sorted, my mum has already booked the flowers and many more stuff aswell i want to get everything paid for asap so we can relax closer to the wedding so dont worry about it. if some companies are being funny with you i suggest going else where and spending your hard earned money with a company that will respect you and show you some time and apprication, after all it doesnt matter how far in advance u book it ur still giving them custom. hope this helps xxxx
