I have a budget overall, including contributions from parents of 1500. I'm having a lovely ceremony, which I'm being driven to in my friends brand new posh car for free, my mate is making my cup cake tier, her daughter is doing our photography, we have hired a venue but separate caterers with an overall cost of 300. I have managed to source cheap but beautiful bridesmaid dresses, I have 3 and 1 fg. I have been able to do a sweet buffet, indoor sparklers, hire someone to decorate my venue , get a stunning romantica dress and veil and even been able to buy enough wine to give everyone a glass or two for free for the toasts. My sil2b is doing my hair, nails and make up and that of the other bridesmaid (she's professionally trained), we have been able yo source stunning flowers and buttonholes online, do wedding favours etc, have a friend who owns a hotel who has kindly given us the honeymoon suite for free the night of the wedding. basically call in every favour, the bay of e is your best friend and don't be too upset about the things your budget just won't stretch to because after the day it just won't matter. Beautiful weddings can be done on a small budget as long as you are realistic. Pictures are on my wall and if you wasn't any links to anything I'm happy to help. I know how stressful wedding planning on a small budget can be xxx

if you are good with arts and crafts you can make alot of things. I'd stay away from the major craft shops as they can be expensive. Local markets and indoor markets can be good for buying wedding things. There's also websites like g.mtree and free (re) cycle. You can also place free adverts asking for what you need.

Don't be scared to ask for discount! I have a tight budget to keep to and from speaking to different places most will budge on the original cost quoted. I'm not having a wedding car, my dad will drive me in a car he built from scratch in the year I was born. At the end of the day I am not worried about what anyone else may think of my wedding, although I want it to be special the most important thing is becoming Mrs H. You can save allot of money by doing things for yourself, like you I don't have many people around to help out but plan ahead ( I'm not getting married until August 2015) and source around for everything, its surprising how prices will change depending on where you get the item from.
