Went for my final dress fitting today and my dress is gorgeous!
However, the girls doing my alterations asked me if i had had my hair trial and when i replied saying i was going to do my own hair they were totally shocked!!
Now, im not a trained hairdresser or make up artist but i like my hair the way i do it and my face the way i do it. Have not been to a hairdressers for about 10 yrs since they cut too much off my hair and i felt ugly.
The alterations girls made such a big deal about doing my own hair, saying that it is a special day and i should feel goergous and make a big effory etc. Just been feeling a bit down about it now and that im not going to look special.
Is everyone else getting a hairdresser and make up person/ xx

I wouldn't worry - not everyone wants a hairdresser for the reasons you are saying! I know my W2B is debating on having a hairdresser and make-up artist on the day because she wouldn't be happy doing it and don't want the stress of knowing on the day if it's going to go wrong... At least if she does it, she knows exactly what she likes and wants and ultimately only has herself to blame!! Stick to your guns flower and do what you want - You need to be calm and happy not stressed and worried :) xx

I am, but only because I have a regular makeup girl and a hairstylist. You need to do what makes you happy and not what other people tell you to do. Have you trialed how you will be doing your hair and makeup on the day?

I am doing my own hair and make up - i wear make up daily and really like the way i do things, my experience with make up artists has not been great - so i decided that i wanted to do it all myself on my special day - take your time , and enjoy the getting ready experience , i am sure you will look gorgeous xx

Dont worry about it. If you know you look nice then....if i thought i looked nice doin my own then i would. Be confident. Ur OH obviously loves u the way you do it yourself x
Don't worry about it; if you want to do it yourself then do so; sure you'll look just as good as a professional doing it :)

I personally got a professional hair and make up artist in for my bridesmaids and myself on the day but I know many ladies who will do their own or have a friend or relative do it for them or do their own.

I'm no good on my own hair & make up but my best friend who was my bridesmaid did my make up & my sister did my hair.... They both did a fab job!! ( neither do it for a living) I just wanted to be relaxed & chilled getting ready on the morning & felt that having a stranger there wouldn't help this plus it saved some penny's lol

I did my own make up. I was frightened a make up artist would make me look like a clown!!! My MoH did my hair.
That's what I hated about going into dress shops, all the questions and strangers telling me what I should and shouldn't do on my wedding day.
You'll look gorgeous no matter what. Every bride has a certain glow on her special day!!

They shouldn't of made you feel like that at all! I am personally getting a makeup artist in who is also a hairdresser, and she's doing all of us, but there is a team of them of 3 :) I didn't want to be stressing that my hair wouldn't be right or my makeup being the same as what I wear it everyday.
You do what you feels comfortable, go for it if you feel comfortable and want to do your hair and makeup. :) like you said you know how you want it :)

I am getting my friend to do it only because i am crap at putting my hair in styles. I would do my own make up, but I get heart palpatations when stressed, and my hands shake...dont really want clown face walking towards my H2B. If I could do it all by myself I WOULD. So dont feel down girlie, it is what YOU feel comfortable with which is important!

I see nothing wrong with doing your own hair and make up, as long as you like it thats all that matters :) personally i am getting someone todo mines but only because im not great at it!, and my opinion is that its lovely, the main thing what you have to consider is if your having a veil or tiara etc. x

I assume you will be adding a veil, or tiara, or similar hair adornment to the do? If so I think it will look very weddingy. I wish I was as skilled as you when it came to my own hair.

I think your hair looks lovely but personally I think it may look better if you bouffant the top more (similar to InDreamlands pic) rather then pull the hair to the side if that makes sense? xxx

I think it looks lovely, for my fsils wedding I did mynown hair an makeup an when i came downstairs her makeup artist was like did you do that yourself?? It look proffesional. ( we were all staying at her mums) and i was like well i don't think I took a hair an makeup artist upstairs!lols

It looks lovely, if you are that clever doing it yourself then don't bother with the hairdresser. I got mine done by a hairdresser but my make up I done myself.

i had mine done for me but ONLY because both my hair n makeup were done as wedding presents . other wise i would have called on a friend for my hair and done my own make up
it looks lovely if i could do that i wouldn't be bothering with getting my hair done but i am useless when it comes to hair and im having my make-up done because i have rosacea and want a good cover up. x

I think it looks great like that - wish I could do my own hair - I have all on just getting it to look nice in a pony tail!!!! Im doing my own make-up, always have, always will. Been doing it years so think I can manage ok for my wedding. My hair is a different story - need help on that one! You go for it hun, you're obviously very talented when it comes to it xx
