And I'm now officially in meltdown mode!

I gave my mua lots of different pictures of inspiration using a "vintage glam" look, which was winged liner with nice full lashes. Nothing toooo dramatic but definitely making a little bit of a statement.

Well I realise not everyone can pull off this look, but my make up was just awful!!! my eyes were like two black holes, the fake lashes were HUGE and after saying I HATE browns on my eyes (because I have very pink eyelids so i prefer them lightened) she gave me brown eyeshadows!!

I kind of accepted it after some badgering by her and she left thinking I was happy. But then I also thought I was happy.

After taking countless Selfies and putting on my veil and earrings i just can't wear this make up.

I don't know what to do. I don't know whether to pay for another trial and keep her, or just accept the expense and go somewhere else.

How does anyone know what to ask for with their wedding make up? I'm freaking out somewhat but don't know how to express what I want to a mua because i don't know myself :-(

    Oh hun.
Right, first thing, stop and take a deep breath. This can be fixed.

Firstly, did you look anything like what you saw in the example pictures? I suspect you didn't.

A good MUA is hard to find. I was lucky with mine as used the lady who did our makeup and hair at my sister's wedding so knew I was in safe hands, however, being Chinese, my makeup will never make me look anything like the pictures we see online and on celebrities, however, somehow she managed to make me look amazing because she is good at what she does and listens to the bride.

Do you feel comfortable with your MUA? Do you trust her to do the job on the day and give you a stress free morning getting ready? If the answer to either of those questions is no then you need to find a new MUA.

Where are you based? I can if you want give you the details of the lady I used, she is fab, does London fashion week and weekend as well as specialising in weddings.

I'd suggest getting another trial with either a new or your current MUA and keep trying out until you're happy with the look. Maybe try the makeup counters in department stores? My sister and I had a makeover with one before and the girl did an amazing job!

I'm in Poole, Dorset so generally devon, dorset and hampshire based artists cover my area.

If I'm completely honest, I think she felt a little too comfortable with me, but too much. She was quite arrogant about her experience and how much better than others she was. So no, I didn't get a good feeling from her. I didn't feel comfortable in telling her I didn't like it.

I'm half tempted to just do it myself, and then I'm sure I'll regret it.

All I want is to look pretty on my wedding day :-(

Don't worry, this is why people have trials so that they can decide if they like the make up or not. Is you think it was just a miscommunication try again. If you can't relax with her then get someone new. X

The lady I had has travelled to Vegas to do a wedding so I'm sure she'd travel to you on the day but you'll probably need to get to her for the trial. As soon as we had booked and secured our date with the church and reception venue she was the first supplier I booked.

Sounds to me like you need to find a new one, there must be loads locally and available as it's off peak season now xxx

I would go elsewhere. Your MUA should listen to what you want and should have an eye for what looks good on you.

I would go elsewhere babe. Would you rather spend a few extra quid or risk looking awful on your big day cos you felt you couldn't tell her you didnt like it. Xx

I didn't like my first trial the makeup looked ok for the price but I didn't like how it felt on my skin and after wearing it for 8 hours my skin started to feel itchy and I had to wash it off ( not good when you think you need your make up to last at least 10/12 hours).
I decided to try someone else and have to say she is fantastic I had a mini trail to test out the air base foundation before I booked her and I'm having my proper trail this Friday. Have you thought about trying Lv lashes in stead of fake ones she did this on me and I have to say they are fantastic they take ages has they put a solution on your lashes and lift them individually which then curls them upwards she then tints them they last 6 weeks and you don't need any mascara during the day. will be wearing some for my wedding though but they really open up your eyes if you look on the tube they have videos on there of people getting the done with before and after pics x

I'm dreading mine, I've a mark on the bridge of my nose (which I hate) and I was assured that it would be hidden. I've decided to take the hit and seek out a new MUA... my new girl is amazing, she's done two formals for me this year and now I'm happily confident that she'll do the best for me xx

If you're in Devon then contact Rebecca Searle. She did mine and she's amazing and so friendly! She does loads of weddings and has worked in London on photo shoots etc too :) xx

    Thank you everyone!!

Well I decided to go it alone and have a MAC trial and learn some things. I had an amaing guy do my makeup and although I was having the application rather than a lesson he basically taught me how to put the make up on. I then spent £70 on top of the £30 I'd paid for the mac trial but at least I now have some awesome make up. I also applied some lashes after my trial this afternoon and they complete the look so I'm happy!!! I can;t believe how much that hideous trial made me feel about myself - talk about knocking your confidence!!!
