.....just spoken to Nicola our wedding co-ordinator. She got the numbers mixed up for the ceremony. I can only have 30 people in the room we fell in love with. Not 35 like she told us previously.

I can't take anyone else out of the wedding party. Nor do I want to get married anywhere else. This is our dream venue.

I'm sobbing my heart out. What can I do?

You might find a couple of folk can't make it. I'm sure it'll work out. Can you speak to the registrar beforehand and pre warn them? Surely they wouldn't freak out that much over 5 people? I hope it works out for you x

Puddleduck firstly the venue is NOT the only reason you are getting married hun, you are getting married because you are in love and you want to share the rest of your life with your soul mate and it doesn't matter where that happens!! I know it doesn't feel like that right now but once you have slept on it you will work something out.

I am sure the registrar wont be counting the number of people in the room, especially if they can seat the extra people as they will blend in ;o) perhaps any small children can sit on laps.

I know you will get this sorted x x x

No everyone will 100% turn up, unless they die as its my parents, siblings, grandparents 2 aunt 2 uncle and same for H2B. We were happy to be engaged for years longer than this. Its the venue we fell in love with and made us start planning. Deposit is down and everything. Then she "gets the number wrong". Only 2 kids gonna be there and they are like 10 or something. I don't know......
Shes gonna ring registrar and find out the options and call me tomorrow with the verdict. But the room is tiny. Its it the actual chairs fit it alright more than owt too, coz she said she doesn't think he will notice and nobody counts people going in.

Its just really shocked me. I thought this place was set in stone thats all. Its really knocked me for six.

...ok Duckie. 1. Speak to your Registrar se how strict they are/not. Work from there..if no go re numbers how about telling our Wedding guests about this problem....see if anyone volunteers to wait in the bar ..say a husband..boyfriend of guest say..men are alot less fussed re weddings. Offer to buy them a pint and a packet of crisps!

If we can squeeze 8 bikers into a red phone box on a saturday night ,then they sure has hell can squeeze in 5 more of your guests. Speak to the registrar if you need to - you may find they are very accommodating, ours is lovely. Personally i would let it lie... they arent going to REFUSE your guests entry on the day are they?

Duckie, everything will be fine, just wait and see, try to stay positive, Like CeCe said, men aren't too bothered, and I'm sure gentle persuasion with an explanation of the idiot's mess, and a couple of quid chucked behind the bar will solve the issue of any remaining guests, that is IF the registrar won't allow them to squeeze 5 more chairs in, or allow them to stand at the back!

Their mistake hun and a bit of a whopper so they should sort it personally I would speak to the venues manager (someone above the co-ordinator) I'm sure they would want the chance to put right their mistake, tell them you have been speaking about it on here they dont have to know you havent named them but it may just shame them.

Well, thought I would update you all on todays events.

Was told yesterday night that I would get a phone call in the morning to confirm whether the ceremony could go ahead. 12 came and went so I called them. "Yeah, yeah we will find out and let you know as soon as we can".......so at 6 I called them.

I told them in no uncertain terms that I was completely f ucked off by the way they could toss aside my feelings on the whole situation. That THEY were the ones that messed up, they are there to serve ME and if they didn't want the other £2000 I had waiting to give to them then I was giving it to the rival hotel. Along with the other £300 deposit I gave them last week as it clearly states in our contract that I was having 35 guests for the ceremony so the document wasn't legal anymore. (I was bluffing, I aint got a clue if this is right or not btw)

I got a call back from the manager, on her day off, from her home telephone number. Appologising and saying its their mistake. Couldn't beleive how foolish my co-ordinator had been and now she is going to take over in her place. She said although they are only licenced for 30 I can have 35 as the registrar won't count and if he does - its her in trouble but only AFTER the ceremony has taken place, and not in front of any of our guests or ourselves.

Shes even thrown in the bridal suite for free to keep us coz I told her I was waiting for a quote from another hotel.
