we asked our if he wanted a meal and he said no. Even if he did want something to eat it would be from the bar menu. We're arranging to have something for the girls in the quartet to eat whilst they set up and before they play. They'll be getting together early in the day for a practice then coming to our venue so only thought it fair to feed them x

This is such a useful thread and really interesting seeing how different the experiences are!
I had assumed that the photographer would bring their own lunch, so haven't factored this into the budget at all...will just have to see what responses I get when I start getting some quotes!

I arranged for a plate of sandwiches for the photographer and videographer and they ate them in another room when we were having our meal. The venue didn't charge us for these. I have to say that if a photographer asked to have a place at the reception meal I wouldn't be using them!

i think it does depend on how long you will be using the photgrapher to mine is with me all day i have the all day package so its a good 10 plus hours cant really expect him to shoot amazing pictures on a empty stomch lol so a hot meal in the day and he will be welcome to help himself to the evening buffet to.

that's well cheeky ur photographer said that! most people just get a small meal or arrange something from the restaurant.

Myself however have great photographer and as he will be with us from what ever time in the morning we want him right through to 12 that night we are giving him a 3 course meal and buffet in evening. he did however say that wouldn't be nessasery and just some sandwiches would be fine but no way would i let him just have that when he doing about 14 hours with us x

Our photographer is going to be with us from the morning prep until the first dance and fully expected to feed him, but when we enquired as to what he would like he said he preferred to take a small break and have a sandwich in his car! We are planning on making sure he has a nice flask of hot tea and what not, but seeing as we are getting married in October he might change his mind once the cold weather hits!

I asked our photographer if we needed to and he looked at me funny and said of course not I bring my own food! At the end of the day you're already forking out a tonne for the photos so why should you be paying about £30-£60 extra to feed them?! Blooming cheeky photographer is what I say!!!!

Im glad I found this thread.
I hadn't even thought of it, hoping to het the photographer that did my mums wedding if I do he will be with us all day from morning til night. He is a friend of my stepdad. so will be feeding him during the day and then he can have buffet etc at night. If i have to book a photographer then I would expect them to sort out their own lunch as I will only be having them for 6-8 hours and I have to feed myself when I go to work. x

I asked all 6 photographers we met if they required feeding and it was 50/50, half said yes they will need to be fed, the other half said no way no need. The guy and his assistant we booked will not need to be fed. I think it's cheeky as they should bring their own packed lunch or get themselves something at the bar if it's in a venue that is like a hotel.

    I could'nt disagree more.

We're happy too feed our photographers. Not only are they two people who we are happy to have as guests, they are the only supplier who will be spending the entire day with us, from bridal/groom prep right through to first dance and possibly later. As a result, they will both be on their feet for twelve hours or more, so it would be selfish of us if we did'nt feed them.

Actually you can give the photographer a budget to buy his/ her food, not necessary to book a table for the staffs. That's how my clients treat me ;) Some venue provide staff food if you request, with no additional charge.
From my past experience, it was a bit embarrassing when other guests saw me not haven't anything during reception. Some of them even ask the couples if I can join them. At last I have got a sandwich pack.
I don't like bring food with me to work, because the equipment is heavy already. Sometimes I do hair and make up for clients as well. I don't think it is nice to put food together with the tools. I do prepare water and energy bar (something not messy) just in case.
