    Hi girls

Need your help once again, So we have our wedding breakfast for 50 people and additional guests we have to pay extra for. I have took off as many people as I possible could and have got it to 50 adults, however we have 12 children coming too 9 of these needing meals and the hotel want to charge £15 per head for them. I just havent got £135 to feed them. I have emailed the hotel to see if we can just get them happy meals and a mcflurry so just under £30 which is a lot of money saved. Do you think they will let us or will we have to have the meals at £15 that they probably wont eat. Most kids i think would prefer the happy meal and a toy?

£15 for each child is a lot. They are unlikely to let them have a happy meal (although you never know) have you thought about asking for a small buffet for the 'kids table' this could surely be done ofr £4-5 a head... Good luck hun xxx

That does seem a lot of money but you have to remember 50 guests includes children guests. I doubt they'd let you bring in outside food to be honest but no harm in asking xxx

sorry i agree wit the others £15 is a lot of money but i can't see them letting you bring in out side food. what about trying to get it cheaper by just giving the kids mains and dessert they could bring out the main at the same time as the starters as it usually takes kids longer to eat any why.x

Mine are charging £16.50 for children, but we can either give them a smaller version of the adult meal or chicken nuggets, chips and beans. I doubt they will let you bring food in as they will lose money on it xxx

Well with our venue when you spend over a certain amount you get the room free (no room hire) we've spent over double the ammount and they do accept outside catters ect. So I cant see why not. I have sent an email to her but shes usuless at emailing me back so might have to phone her to say check your emails... we can have chicken nuggetts or whatever but i still think it is a ridiculous ammount as extra adults are only £5 more than the kids? x

i very much doubt they would allow you b ring in food from out side and they wont go and get it why would they ?

your best bet is to get back to the venue and explain the problem ...or reduce your guest list further

£15 per head for a child is awful!! but as the others have said unfortunatly i cant see the venue allowing you to bring in food from elsewhere

Our children are half price so £12.50 and this is what I found at all the venues we looked at. No harm in asking about bringing external food in, I don't knw your venue to comment but I know ours would say no as losing money xx

my childrens meals are £16 but that includes juice for them all day and chicken nugget and chips followed by melon and ice cream i think £15 is about right for children my adult meals are £38.50 each so they are less than half price

Sorry but if your venue do childrens meals they are not going to allow you to bring in food from outside because they will loose money and even if they do they will prob charge you for it!
My venue are charging £15 per child (adults are £32) and thats for a 3 course meal with either a smaller version of the adults mains, nuggets chips and peas or pasta! and 2 glasses of sparkling juice with the meal and juice for all of the reception!

Personally I say talk to your venue give them a budget and see what they can do for you OR have a no child rule OR cut your guest list again :-( sorry

Our childrens meals are £15.00 for a half portion or £10.00 for nuggets and chips or sausage and mash. It's basically 1/2 price or 1/3 price if going for the cheap option. Personally I think £15 is fine as a 12 year old child eats quite a lot in my experience, maybe the 5 year olds wont but it averages out. However, from what you are saying - if it is £20 for an extra adult then £15 sounds a little on the high side.
It is worth asking about the McDonalds but I also doubt they will let you and it may be better to try negotiating the price down - at least for the young children who wont eat too much.

    Good luck

Yep, £15 is expensive. The childrens menu at my venue is only £7.95 for 3 courses. However, I dont think they will let you bring cooked food in....Our venue are ok with sweeties/crisps/nuts - basically shop bought things but we arent allowed to add anything to the evening buffet unless it comes from a packet. Im gunna do some bowls of crisps/nuts/snacks to put out with the buffet.

I think you should tell them that its very expensive for a childrens menu and ask if there is anything they can do to help you?

Maybe they wont let you get mcdonalds but they may let you make up like a packed picnic meal for each child, they could all have there own little bags of food, that way you can cater for the differences in ages too, we are having a hog roast for our main meal, but we are doing all the children individual pack ups as the ageswill range from 7 months to 11 years, if they want some of the roast they can also have that xx

thats alot 15 per child i dont think they will let you take in food from outside the premises cant you ask them if they can do a cheaper meal as i dont think 15 is reasonable at all xx

Our reason behind thinking maybe we could take them in is because of the ammount paid already makes our room hire free and as a private function we could have had outside cateerrs but didnt. So thought this might be ok. We cant have the McDonalds but the woman was adamant it was £15 and if we couldnt afford it we shouldnt be getting married or needed to cut the list each my dad then phoned and spoke to the manager instead he explained our situation with adam not working how we couldnt make it no children as it wouldnt be fair on family (they are all familys children and if we didnt let the kids the adults wouldnt have come eitehr) and he said we shouldnt have been quoted £15 each anyway as its £7.95 each he couldnt understand it. He also recognised our name from the day the lady was out as he told us to have the 50 for the £999 and cater for the children as extras instead of adults where the lady wanted us to feed all 120 at full price she didnt even tell us about the deal for wedding breakfast for 50... the manager said it seems like she was trying to make more from commision and she shouldnt so he is going to have a stern word with her and has apologised to us. But at least it is now only about £70 instead of £135 xx
