I'm so fed up - everything keeps going wrong! My stitching in my dress is coming undone, and despite the seamstress telling me I didn't need it taking it in a couple of weeks ago, after trying it on this morning it clearly DOES need taking in! I haven't gone to the effort of loosing all this weight for me not to show it off! Less than 2 weeks to the wedding and I have neither the time nor money to get it altered/re-stitched and I don't know what to do!
Also, I have scars on my arms which I wanted to cover up for the big day - it took me a long time to pluck up the courage to get the referral from the GP to get the camouflage make up, only to then find out that it's a 6 month waiting list! Really don't want to wear a bolero, so I need a new veil which will cover my arms up a bit - again I'm out of time and money!
I still hate my hoop and petticoat and no matter what I do with them they both still look awful under my dress!
This is all aside from all the other last minute things I have left to do, including re-doing the table plan/placecards because of people dropping out at the last minute!
If anybody can help with any of these problems PLEASE let me know - Im getting desperate!

Aw I'm so sorry things aren't panning out :( really wish I could help!!!
Is it possible for you to cover your arms with some concealer at least a bit? Might actually be a tutorial video for stuff like that on the tube of you...? What about a shawl instead of a bolero? All you need is a white pretty scarf really.
Do you have any money at all? Etsy can often be cheaper than the bay for finding things...

So sorry I couldn't help more!

becky - the scars are from self harming, so not something I'm proud of in the slightest - I hate them and my family don't know about them. I'm going to buy some concealer from Boots, but it only covers them so much, and I'll need it over a large area, so want a veil to mask it a little. I can't afford to get the dress re-stitched - serves me right for buying a cheap one I suppose! I do need the hoop, otherwise the skirt is too long and I trip over it. Thnoroughly fed up and I have no one to blame but myself :(

Your dress can be quickly altered if you get it done NOW. Tell your seamstress it needs taking in and the stitches are coming undone, if she's responsible she should fix it! And if she won't do it, look for a new one or see if you have any relatives who will be able to do it for you!

If you have a makeup artist, she may be able to cover the scars for you, or you can buy some camo makeup over the counter and mix yourself, again a MUA should be able to help you colour match on the day. If not, what about a long scarf to use as a wrap to match your BM dresses? Or have a look for a cheap new veil?

Leave the table plan, and name and shame those who didn't bother coming to your special day (unless you have other people coming, at which point give the job to someone you trust, a BM or a relative, with instructions!)

I think your dress looks nice in your photos, maybe you are worrying because you're stressed?

Ataraxia - you're probably right I think it's mostly stress-induced lol! I might have a look for a wrap if I can't find a cheap veil, the seamstress isn't responsible for the stitching - I bought a cheaply made dress, so got what I paid for I suppose!

Hon, I have selfharming scars too, so know how sometimes they can make you feel self conscious, although my family do know about them, but I have found that people generally don't notice them as much as I do! Mine are on my wrists, so I can cover them with some bracelets.... if yours are the same, maybe have a look for some simple jewellery! People will be looking at you, your dress, hair, makeup and the wedding party... they won't be paying that much attention to your arms - a cuff bracelet or armband might help, I wear jewellery if I'm going out in the cold because my scars stand out more when I am cold!

Have a search for Vichy Dermablend (I hope putting the name is ok and not classed as advertising!)- it is a camoflage make up for scars and tattoos and you can order it online or instore. Not sure if it is any good, but worth a look.

They're all over my arms unfortunately, so difficult to hide - I just hate them so much and know that people think I'm stupid - none more than I do myself though. nini - that's what I'm going to buy from Boots, but it only covers them so much - you can still see the bumps of the scars, but I'm hoping a combination of that and a veil will disguise them enough! I'll take the veil off in the evening but I'm hoping it will be dark enough to get away with (and everyone will be drunk)

Register with your local freecycle and put out a WANTED. You could ask if anyone can lend you the items you need. To be honest, you could also ask if there is a seamstress who could help with your dress too - but make sure you see their work etc.

I can completely sympathise, I've had a weird rash on my arms since my teenage years and it's left me with scars at the tops of my arms. I love the organza shawl that Enny suggested but just remember you will look totally stunning and no one will notice so you just need something to give you that confidence boost. xxxx

Yes hon, it's about £26 but you could maybe find a tester on Ebay? It's called MAC face and body makeup, it goes on like water but the more you rub/brush the thicker it gets so you can keep applying, I love MAC, I'm using it on my wedding day, pricey but lasts months, I'd try a tester. x

Not really MrsMcleish - my auntie was an amazing machinist but she's no longer with us unfortunately. My Nanna is an embroiderer by trade but because of this she now has crippling arthritis in her fingers so can't use the machine any more :(
I might be able to do the re-stitching myself as I'm not bad with a needle and thread (it's in my blood obviously!) but not sure how to go about taking it in x

Mrs Henderson, that's very kind of you! Is the hoop itself covered? I think that's the problem with the one I have - because the material of my dress is so thin (cheap) you can see it through the dress. Although if it's better quality than the one I've got (which was also very cheap lol) then it may look better! I may take you up on the offer if you're sure it's ok? It's very, very nice of you! x

In regards to the scars, YSL touche eclat works really well for me, I have self harming scars too and I find that one shade darker than I usually use (the fairest they do - so pale I glow in the dark lol) and a bit of finger tip blending works well, and with a bit of body shimmer powder it sets it and you really wouldn't notice.
