I'm so fed up - everything keeps going wrong! My stitching in my dress is coming undone, and despite the seamstress telling me I didn't need it taking it in a couple of weeks ago, after trying it on this morning it clearly DOES need taking in! I haven't gone to the effort of loosing all this weight for me not to show it off! Less than 2 weeks to the wedding and I have neither the time nor money to get it altered/re-stitched and I don't know what to do! Also, I have scars on my arms which I wanted to cover up for the big day - it took me a long time to pluck up the courage to get the referral from the GP to get the camouflage make up, only to then find out that it's a 6 month waiting list! Really don't want to wear a bolero, so I need a new veil which will cover my arms up a bit - again I'm out of time and money! I still hate my hoop and petticoat and no matter what I do with them they both still look awful under my dress! This is all aside from all the other last minute things I have left to do, including re-doing the table plan/placecards because of people dropping out at the last minute! If anybody can help with any of these problems PLEASE let me know - Im getting desperate!

Aw I'm so sorry things aren't panning out :( really wish I could help!!! Is it possible for you to cover your arms with some concealer at least a bit? Might actually be a tutorial video for stuff like that on the tube of you...? What about a shawl instead of a bolero? All you need is a white pretty scarf really. Do you have any money at all? Etsy can often be cheaper than the bay for finding things...
So sorry I couldn't help more!

becky - the scars are from self harming, so not something I'm proud of in the slightest - I hate them and my family don't know about them. I'm going to buy some concealer from Boots, but it only covers them so much, and I'll need it over a large area, so want a veil to mask it a little. I can't afford to get the dress re-stitched - serves me right for buying a cheap one I suppose! I do need the hoop, otherwise the skirt is too long and I trip over it. Thnoroughly fed up and I have no one to blame but myself :(
Your dress can be quickly altered if you get it done NOW. Tell your seamstress it needs taking in and the stitches are coming undone, if she's responsible she should fix it! And if she won't do it, look for a new one or see if you have any relatives who will be able to do it for you!
If you have a makeup artist, she may be able to cover the scars for you, or you can buy some camo makeup over the counter and mix yourself, again a MUA should be able to help you colour match on the day. If not, what about a long scarf to use as a wrap to match your BM dresses? Or have a look for a cheap new veil?
Leave the table plan, and name and shame those who didn't bother coming to your special day (unless you have other people coming, at which point give the job to someone you trust, a BM or a relative, with instructions!)
I think your dress looks nice in your photos, maybe you are worrying because you're stressed?

They're not too bad from a distance becky as it was a long time ago, but you can see them when sitting/standing next to me
CommentAuthorKayteeG
Ataraxia - you're probably right I think it's mostly stress-induced lol! I might have a look for a wrap if I can't find a cheap veil, the seamstress isn't responsible for the stitching - I bought a cheaply made dress, so got what I paid for I suppose!

Hon, I have selfharming scars too, so know how sometimes they can make you feel self conscious, although my family do know about them, but I have found that people generally don't notice them as much as I do! Mine are on my wrists, so I can cover them with some bracelets.... if yours are the same, maybe have a look for some simple jewellery! People will be looking at you, your dress, hair, makeup and the wedding party... they won't be paying that much attention to your arms - a cuff bracelet or armband might help, I wear jewellery if I'm going out in the cold because my scars stand out more when I am cold!

Have a search for Vichy Dermablend (I hope putting the name is ok and not classed as advertising!)- it is a camoflage make up for scars and tattoos and you can order it online or instore. Not sure if it is any good, but worth a look.
CommentAuthorKayteeG
They're all over my arms unfortunately, so difficult to hide - I just hate them so much and know that people think I'm stupid - none more than I do myself though. nini - that's what I'm going to buy from Boots, but it only covers them so much - you can still see the bumps of the scars, but I'm hoping a combination of that and a veil will disguise them enough! I'll take the veil off in the evening but I'm hoping it will be dark enough to get away with (and everyone will be drunk)
CommentAuthormaryannt
first things first no one thinks ur stupid!!!! xxxx It might not seem like it now hun but I am sure everything will come together and fall into place on the run up and on day not long now your day will be fab no matter what people won't be concetrating on you scars love altho am sure its more of a confidence thing but ry not to worry an bit of heavy duty foundation try to relax a bit and try to enjoy the run up love ( i am not meaning to sound patronizing) i bet on the days following the wedding you will be wondering what you were worrying about xxxxxxxx

hun has your lovely h2b maybe a suggestion of helping u out with the money for getting the dress taken in or family members and u would pay them back afterwards???
CommentAuthorjo Santa
Register with your local freecycle and put out a WANTED. You could ask if anyone can lend you the items you need. To be honest, you could also ask if there is a seamstress who could help with your dress too - but make sure you see their work etc.

I can completely sympathise, I've had a weird rash on my arms since my teenage years and it's left me with scars at the tops of my arms. I love the organza shawl that Enny suggested but just remember you will look totally stunning and no one will notice so you just need something to give you that confidence boost. xxxx

Honey MAC do body makeup which may help hide your scars. I have some, I was considering covering my tattoos then though nahhh they're part of me. As for the dress, I have no idea sweetheart but good luck x

You are all wonderful Heather! So supportive and kind - I'm going to be sad to leave after the wedding! I'm still really stressed - I couldn't sleep last night as I was stressing about all the things I have left to sort out! Thanks Emma - do you know how much it is? Enny - thanks for your help, but I wouldn't get it in time unfortunately :( I've e-mailed a couple of sellers on eBay to see if they'd be willing to offer me a buy it now price, so fingers crossed!
CommentAuthorMrsMcleish2B
Is anyone crafty out of your friends or family? Could someone run something up on the sewing machine that would be quicker and cheaper than ordering.... Just an idea xxxx

Yes hon, it's about £26 but you could maybe find a tester on Ebay? It's called MAC face and body makeup, it goes on like water but the more you rub/brush the thicker it gets so you can keep applying, I love MAC, I'm using it on my wedding day, pricey but lasts months, I'd try a tester. x
CommentAuthorKayteeG
I'm going to town at some point this week, so I might go to the MAC counter to see if it's better than the Vichy stuff - I'll go for whichever works best! Thanks hun. Not really MrsMcleish - my auntie was an amazing machinist but she's no longer with us unfortunately. My Nanna is an embroiderer by trade but because of this she now has crippling arthritis in her fingers so can't use the machine any more :( I might be able to do the re-stitching myself as I'm not bad with a needle and thread (it's in my blood obviously!) but not sure how to go about taking it in x
CommentAuthorMrsC2B
Kaytee there's so much support and love on this thread it's wonderful to read. Unfortunately I have nothing to add other than, take a deep breath and tackle one challenge at a time. You can do it! Big hugs xx
CommentAuthorEmmaLouise
It's £25.50, I searched the bay of e for you and there's no testers on there, do you live near a MAC store? They could at least try it out then before you to and buy it? x
CommentAuthorKayteeG
There's a MAC counter in the Debenhams in the city centre, so I'll pop there and see if I can test it! I love you all, you're all fantastic! x

Glad to c some1 else mentioned freecycle, hope tht ain't classed as advertising but can't post on ur wall. If u put items wanted some1 may be able to help. Also a certain gum bush if u know what i mean. Hope u manage to get everything sorted in time xx
CommentAuthorFuture Mrs Henderson
Is it a single hoop, double? I have a spare single hoop if u could use it. I bought it for some1 on a site however thy were a lot taller than me (i'm 5ft 1) and it would need taken up loads so my cousin has given me hers as my something borrowed. If it could be of any use even if you think it would just be a maybe let me know asap and i can post it to you xx
CommentAuthorKayteeG
Mrs Henderson, that's very kind of you! Is the hoop itself covered? I think that's the problem with the one I have - because the material of my dress is so thin (cheap) you can see it through the dress. Although if it's better quality than the one I've got (which was also very cheap lol) then it may look better! I may take you up on the offer if you're sure it's ok? It's very, very nice of you! x
CommentAuthorAbbey
Hi Katie, if you check the bay of e for camouflage make up there is a palette on there for just under £4 inc postage. xx
CommentAuthorKayteeG
Thanks Abbey, I'll have a look x
CommentAuthorLauraCrossan
Hi Katie are you having a tan done for the day?or u could wear a bit of sunshimmer to help aswell.I work for boots and there are a couple of concealers in the no 7 range one like a pan stick that has good coverage and one like touch eclat but so much cheaper!and the five pound off vouchers are on at the minute so if you needed any last minute things you would get a voucher too.go in and try the testers first sure and see if their any good. xxx
CommentAuthorKayteeG
Thanks for the advice Laura :) Nope - not having a tan as I've never done one before so chances are I'd get it wrong! I don't think it would look right on me either as I'm quite fair! And I'm very worried about getting it on my white dress! x

Kaytee, hope you're feeling a bit better? I'm sure you'll have an absolutely wonderful day. Is the stitching on the dress really noticeable? Maybe you could check y**tube for a tutorial vid if you're ok with a needle and thread yourself? Can h2b help with the place cards?

Im so happy things are being sorted for you. In regards to the scars, YSL touche eclat works really well for me, I have self harming scars too and I find that one shade darker than I usually use (the fairest they do - so pale I glow in the dark lol) and a bit of finger tip blending works well, and with a bit of body shimmer powder it sets it and you really wouldn't notice. Hope things go well...

And A.Bird2b I swear by YSL Touche Eclat just to look normal every day!
