my h2b is leaving me to it ( which i like lol) but sum people am fed up of saying and doing stuff too early and shud leave it! for instance i just put on face book i just paid my deposit for photographer and i got 2 people ( his sis n cousin) sayin ur enot gettin married for another year yet chill and u wnt have anythign left to do when it gets closer( who wanst to do it all closer anyway lol)

In some ways I can see what they mean and in other ways you are right. I would say you need to book the big things that are important NOW! Suppliers can get booked up to two year and longer in advance. I would however say after that leave it a while and then start up again. I booked everything within a month of us getting engaged. I then started getting loads of things in all at once so then had to take a massive break from it or I wouldn't have anything left to do now. I would say once the big things are done allow yourself to buy one thing per week max! That way you constantly have something new to do and can enjoy it. Make a list of everything you need/have to do and then break it down into time scales so that you pace yourself. There is nothing worse than being over organised or stressed so if you can get he balance right it would be good.
Oh and people always have an opinion so you do have to learn to let things go over your head.
u arent planning to early at all. a year comes round so quick and some people have no idea how much planning and time goes into it. we arnt getting married for another 20 month and are planning now. some venues you have to book a year in advance!! im terrible for being to organised h2b gets annoyed,lol. as for not having nothing to do closer to the time is a major bonus. what bride wants to leave everything to the last minute and get stressed.

Kev has been pretty good all along as like me he knew to get the good suppliers at a price we wanted we had to book them asap. After that was done though he was like everything can wait until next year. I still carried on but he wasn't so bothered about it but since Jan hit he has swung into action again and has been going to choose music etc and look at readings off his own back. Its amazing how quickly time goes by and he has realised that it wasn't five minutes ago he was proposing to me and that was back last June!

hey i dont think your doing it to early at all we rae getting married this november and ive had our church and hotel for the reception booked since last august i think theres sooooo much to do that the sooner you start planning and paying for things the easier it is ive got my invites all designed and ready to be ordered and ive booked the wedding car and ive picked the bridesmaid dresses so all we have left to do is my dress the suits, cake and the first dance song my hair and make up is sorted and so is our photographer im planning mad and i feel sooo much better knowing i can tick things of the list and still have lots of time to prepare for the big day xx

I also don't think you are doing things too early- im also planning now and have just put my deposit down for my photographer too! Things so get booked up early so the earlier you do it the more choice you have. Iv booked photographer, registrar and venue, and string quartet, am now looking to book a car, band and hotels. I will be leaving shopping for dress, bm dresses, flowers, honeymoon etc til later in the year when I have a colour scheme!! Iv also been buying table crystals, petals, bm jewellery along the way though as iv spotted some bargains in the sales and the little things will add up in the long run. I know people that planned their wedding in 9 months but They couldn't get the day they wanted or the best photographers. My advice will be to carry on as you are- tell us on here rather than family as you will get the responses you want from us ;0) xx

You get married a month before me i have picked my dresses for everyone(just need to get the money and ask ******* to make them) i have just pre booked my venue. I have had my photographer booked since september. You are fine. Tell them to shut up or keep quite if they dont like it

end of the day becky if you want to be efficient and not stressed out nearer the time and it makes you happy why should what other people say matter? I have done lots early and by far sooner than most people would have done. I mean I bought my wedding dress before he proposed lol! It's up to you and if it means with larger things you just put down deposits and secure your date so bit by bit you can pay it off why not? Hell of a lot easier than saving it all up and paying in one lump sum closer to the day and being nervous or not quite having enough cash or not being able to have the date or things you want
Just my opinion but you seem to be like me - very weddingy and keen to do it all now. Nothing wrong with that! xxx

I say ignor any comments that your doing things too soon. NOPE! I did alot of mine with more than a year to go. If you leave it too late you will be disapointed if you cant get the people you want. Small things, then yes,maybe leave until abit nearer just incase you do change your mind. Big big stuff- get planning hun! xx

Thats exactly what we are doing Becky. We started booking and putting deposits down 18 months before, we also started buying little things like decorations etc, i ordered our artificial flowers, bought our vases (pics of table pieces are on my profile) we hae now got all our plastic champaign flutes / wine glasses....our bubbles, table cloths and runners and today i ordered the balloons, garlands and ribbons for the reception venue and cars / bikes. We have also done our save the dates and had rings paid for, so are doing things slowly and surely and spreading the cost so that we could still afford a 7 night haven break to scotland in august with the kids, and a 4 night break to malta in april for me and h2b. Absolutely nothing wrong with doing things early, the time will soon fly by.

Im not getting married for nearly 2.5 years and we booked our venue this week (*squeal*!!) because its very popular and we didnt want to lose it. Im like you and really want to be organised - dont want to be spending the last few months panicking about the little details.......so just ignore them its not their day and you do it however you want to!!! xx

It's definitely not too early. We have booked church, venue and have a consultation with photographer we hope to book very soon. But I would say that maybe it is too soon to expect people that aren't really close to you to get excited for you x x x

I say no way I'm two months after u and already have things picked out and brought my dress lol I'm also going to see a venue on Sunday sooooo excited :-) plus if you don't look and price things up etc how are u ment to budget? If u leave things to late u end up losing out on things to as everything gets booked up and bargains get sold. It's the fun of planning your wedding luv don't let anyone ruin it for u x

we've had the same situation. However, we now have ALL the people we want in place so we know we will have the wedding we want.... and it wasnt easy.... we almost missed out due to the fact ppl are now planning weddings 2,3 even 4 years in advance. its common fact decent photographers, bands, videographers, cake makers and especially venues get booked up quickly. Theres still plenty of smaller things to do as just because u have booked something doesnt mean its sorted... u still have to go back and make all the important decisions e.g. what photo package do you want, how do you want it arranged, do you want a filter etc and that will be true for all suppliers as we have to go around and tweak everything and that it more time consuming. Ignore them... you are obviously going to have the wedding you want to have because you are organised... if they were getting married im sure theyd be similar as they would be too excited not to.
