When setting up tables on the big day, do favours go on the table at the start before everyone sits down or given out after the meal?

I agree, I would put them on the table when everything is being set up.

I would have them arranged on the table too I think, after the meal people disappear to the bar/toilet/for a cigrette etc x

Either, or. The traditional Bomboniera has always been given out at the end of the day when people say goodbye to bride and groom.
On the table before the guests arrive is a good idea as it also adds a bit of colour and interest to the table, so they become part of your table decor.
At our own wedding, we gave flower stems filled with sugared almonds, we displayed them in a basket and soon after the meal we went around all the tables to talk to our guests and handed them out. We could then relax and enjoy the evening and not worry about catching people before they leave and you know that you have personally handed them out.

    Good luck ladies.
    Maria. x

Thank you. I haven't been to very many weddings but remember the bride and bm's coming around with a basket and handing them out after meal.

Haning them out afterwards is a nice way of making sure you see all of your guests before they leave x

We decided not to have favours, but we're having a sweetie table/cart, we're getting personalised sweetie bags for each of the guests which will be on the tables as they sit down, and they can fill the bag with something that they want instead of things that will get left.

natalie that's a lovely idea for wedding favours. I'm hoping that because we're making our own they won't get left behind as a lot of effort's gone into them! Lol.x

Letts hope so, I feel obliged to take the favours home anyway regardless of what they are! But i know something like a miniature would go down well with some of the guests but not all, so we chose sweets instead. All of the guests will like something we put out! x
