I'm still undecided on the whole favour thing. The weddings I've been to where they've had them half of them have been left at the end which strikes me as a waste of money. Men have no idea what they are most of the time (my H2B has no idea lol) so could I get away with just favours for the women?
And how much to spend? My budget is tiny.
Any suggestions for low priced favours? Not sweets as we're having a sweetie table.
What are you ladies having and how much have they cost you?

You can buy the pretty celoophane cones that people can fill with sweets from the sweetie station as a favour if you dont want to spend too much. Or maybe to cut costs have a favour that doubles as a place card. There are many about. My favours that Im planning are costing around 60p each as Im making them. Im making hanging tree ornaments - fimo angels holding a heart with the guests name on so it duobles as a placecard and either a santa/snowman or drunk elf for the men with their name on. Im also making wine glass charms with the guests names on and these work out at literally pennies each. xx

Hvent got any pics yet but will put some on soon. Ive only been doing them here and there when Ive had a few mins spare over the past couple of days but already made 42. Very quick and easy. You can buy all the bits on bay of e. Some people use jump rings but I prefer memory wire - you can get 100 coils for 99p also alphabet beads are around 99p per 100 - if you didnt wat to do a full first name, you could do initials. You can also get bulk bags of beads, Ive got gold and wine as thats my colours. Another thing you can do if you have a theme ie stars/butterflies etc... is to buy fimo/sculpey and make lil charms push a small hole through and thread them onto your charm. The only tools you really need are a pair of wire cutters and needle nose pliers, which are not expensive. xx

I am asking myself this same question! I'm not all about the budget cutting so much as I think, well I've either forgotten the favours of the the weddings I've been to or have never used them and have just tucked them away and forgotten about them...
I do like the idea of the compact mirror- being something the girls would use. But the same could be said for men- think of something they would use! What about a bottle opener or something?? hmmm....
We had to travel across the earth to find each other
We've never been apart since meeting almost 7years ago

Sweets are our favours . We have bought everyone a clip jar each 90p each from ikea and let people fill up. You can buy cheap pic 'n' mix bags of ebay. We are also giving everyone a poem each and for mums dads sisters brothers etc they will have a personalised one for them

Our favours were sweets in a wee box and were given to all the women and children only (as in 1 between a couple) but as you re already having a sweets table I have had a wee think for you.
One idea from a wedding I attended which is pretty inexpensive is a small candle wrapped in a piece of coloured organza (to match your colour scheme) and tied with a wee bow. Effective but not costly and it gave colour to the tables at the wedding. Its easy enough to get a wee roll of organza cheaply from a fabric shop or off good old ebay and Poundland do 3 candles for £1.
Another idea is a wee champagne glass, as I just found a link a wee while ago of a place you can get 12 glasses for £6 plus postage. Also I got some cheap wine glasses in Homebase sale just before Christmas that had coloured stems for £1 each. xx

Im doing favours but they are sweets scattered on the table, every one loves sweets... i was going to get love hearts with personalised labels but now ive decided that as the colour scheme is cadbury purple, im getting mini dairy milk chocolates and im also getting rock sweets with just married written in them. Cheap and cheerful for both on bay of e and i doubt they will be left behind! xxx
Very very happy as Mrs Erica Trow

I managed to find crackers over Xmas that were in my colour (surprising as it's midnight blue!) so grabbed those whilst we could. Then we're going to put in choc hearts as the 'prize'.

We are having character rubber ducks - they worked out about 73p each with postage on bay of e. Going to try and give as many people as possible one relative to them so Leon's brother will get a soldier duck etc
CommentAuthorFaeth
I won't be bothering with favours unless I find something uber uber cheap (like 50p per person or less). Just had a huge smack in the face with everything else coming up before the wedding that is gonna cost me money - lol
"Of course I'm not wedding obsessed!!"
CommentAuthorXLittleMissMe!X
I wasn't going to bother with them, I then decided I would buy some chocs that have our name and wedding date on from an ebay seller who does them 50 for £8.50 which I thought was pretty good as it shows willing and is personal and suits but genders. On going to the wedding fayre at our venue I then changed my mind as we are having ivory and gold and thought that the tables would look better with some more colour on them to stop them looking bare so I invested in some favour boxes I picked up cheap from ebay and then I got some gold ribbon from ebay for 99p. All in all I think it cost me £18.00 to do 60 favour boxes and I just have to get the fillings now which will either be the choc hearts or I spoke to our local old fashioned sweet shop and he said he will do us a deal if we buy in bulk.
CommentAuthorLiz3yy
We're not bothering with favours, I don't really see the point in them plus it's just more expense. People attending our wedding can take some cake away with them and be done with it! lol
Can't wait until the day I become Mrs. Johnson :)
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
I found favours to be really quite expensive no matter where I looked, but in the end I decided on tea bag favours inside little cards with quotes on them about tea from Alice in Wonderland and various authors. They are really pretty and I am just going to sit them inside tea cups that I am collecting from charity shops and bay of e. Think I have photos of them on my wall. Not everyones cup of tea (boom boom) but definitely mine and not too pricey. A lot of brides make their own cookies and things like that and put them in little bags with ribbon round them, cheap but gorgeous! x

That is a GENIUS idea gregorysgirl!! And would fit in PERFECTLY as my H2B is obsessed with tea which is why we're having afternoon tea instead of a traditional wedding breakfast in the first place!
CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
That is great, i have finally helped someone on here, lol. Take a look at photos if you want, they can be made too at home if you have access to craft discs, my MIL2b has loads, so might make the rest ourselves, think it cost me about £7 for 4 which i think is a great price considering favours can cost £3 or £4 per one! :)

CommentAuthorGregorysGirl
I didn't make the ones on my profile, but my MIL2b will make them for me if I run out of funds, but will probably buy them as they are so pretty! But they wouldn't take long to make, but then my MIL2b does a lot of craft stuff and could do them in a few hours. She should go into business but hasn't the time bless her. I can put a link on your wall if you like from where i got them? x

We're having a sweet buffet that is doubling as our favours. We are printing on paper bags so the guests know what they're for!! lol and leaving them on the place settings. That way people can take a few of their favourite sweets. Think we are having about 10 different types of sweets so hopefully there will be something for everyone!
CommentAuthorRachie :D
Scratch cards and lotto tickets are great for everyone - roll them up and put them in their champers glass or if you have any little bridesmaids get them to go round the tables with them in a basket and hand them out. The adults will think it looks cute and the kids will feel really special & important :)
