    When does this usually happen?

How am I supposed to dance with my Dad?

I really want a father/daughter dance and we have the song chosen, but I just don't know how it... happens?!

    xx

I'm not too sure, i presume it'll be just after the first dance? I could be wrong. I can't wait to dance with my dad :) What song have you chosen? Xx

It's usually after the first dance between husband and wife. Many mother and son dances happen at the same time as this too. XX

Well the mother and son one can't be at the same time as mine as its Thin Lizzy - Sarah. My Dad apparently used to sing it to me when I was a baby :)

Do you have to have a father/daughter dance? My dad isn't really sentimental and don't think he would want to dance?

I'm planning on a father/daughter dance, Stevie Wonder, Isn't She Lovely - apparently it was playing on the radio when Dad drove home from the hospital after I was born.

We're doing it straight after the first dance.

my father daughter dance will be right after our first dance. our song is 'everything i do i do it for you' i know its more of a bride and groom song but its always been mine my dads song since i was little. everytime i heard the song i would always runs to him and shout 'its our song!' so we've been dancing to it forever! i think this is probably going to be the most emotional part of my whole wedding! x x

    Cute songs :-)

I was just thinking my dad and I dont have a song, but then s spilt second later I remember we have always had Phantom of the Opera (i used to sing opera when i was a bit younger) we used to sing at each other when i was growing up and my dad would hide behind the sofa being the phantom! Brilliant, now what phantom song...... xx

I was talking to my mum about this the other day and she had never heard of a father daughter dance and said there has never been one at any wedding she has been to, so this is a new tradition, so there is no need to have it if you dont want to. I would like to have one with my dad but he is very shy, so I may get them to play a song later into the night and dance with my dad to it, that way no one knows it is our dance so no one will be watching us! xxx

First time round back in 1980 i danced with my dad before the groom, my dad handed me over to the groom for our first dance, its how we are doing it this time too, a bit of a tradition in our family xx

I'm having a father/daughter dance after the first dance with my H2B. We are dancing to Heartland- I loved her first, it's just perfect for the relationship that me and my dad have.

i wanted to do my father daughter dance to "i wanna be like you " from jungle book as me and dad used to sing it together all the time!! Driving down the motorway shouting it at top of lungs!! but he is struggling to walk now so i think that we wiill just have to play it at some point!! :( otherwise we could have the phantom of the opera song the duet between christine and the phantom as we used to sing that together too lol x still il be keeping my fingers crossed that we get something!! x

and it will be just after the first dance between me and ry x

I think this is such a lovely idea, it's like the special moment when you're his little girl for the last time.
My dad doesn't even like weddings so I doubt he'd agree to a dance :(

Me and my dad have never really gotten along. He is giving me away (my mum is insisting), but he doesn't want to do a speech and all the songs I'm finding for the father/daughter dance are just not right. We talk but only to keep the peace. We can go weeks and months without talking. Not sure if he will agree to dance but if he does, I'm stumped for what to dance to!!

I love my dad but we don't have that kind of relationship where we hug or anything do I think for us to dance would be awkward and embarrassing! When we were little, he used to let us stand on his feet while he hummed a tune but perhaps I'm too big now and would be a bit weird for a wedding, lol. What I would really like to do is have a 'family' dance after the first dance with h2b and our children. I have a song picked out but not sure how it would work with 5 of us, x.

I think you know yourself if its appropriate for you and your dad. I thought about it cause I thought it was tradition, but then my mum said my dad had chosen a song.

My dads a moody scottish bloke most of the time, but we have those special moments sometimes when we'll have hug and he'll tell me he loves me, or hes proud of me, or good luck etc. Hes a lovely guy but work stresses him out a lot, but hes got the week off before yay :D

I just think its going to be beautiful :) and our songs not a slow song and its not too long :) xx

I havent even thought about this and I don' think it will be happening for me and my dad. He's just not that way inclined! Although he is known to do anything in his power to embarass me so maybe after a couple of pints he'll feel differently! My sisters have decided they are gonna dance with my dad (theyre my stepsisters from my mums second marriage, so dont really have anything to do with my dad!), so i cannot wait to see his face when they pull him up!! xx

We are dancing to 'butterfly kisses', its a beautiful song and its how I would greet him when I was young and he came home from tour (im an army brat!) . We are dancing just before mine and oh first dance so he can hand me over for the second time! Ive always been a daddies girl and hes not much of a dancer, but always told me when I asked 'only on your wedding day'.
