Just suddenly remembered a little gem of information that might help anyone who is closer to their step-father.

If, like me, you do not want your father's name on your marriage certificate and your mum is re-married, you can have your step-dads name on the certificate.

I had a situation when they were asking details for our certificate when they asked what my father's profession was. I said "Oh I dont really know as I dont see him" The registrar looked a bit confused until I explained that the man giving me away was my step-dad. She said well you can have his name on your certificate if he is married to your mum instead if you like. Sadly they arent married and I couldnt have his name on there instead of my fathers.

Just thought I'd share this piece of info xxx

That's so weird. When we filled ours in, we had to give our biological fathers information. I don't see mine often and h2b has nothing to do with his but we had to go and find out their profession etc as they said they had to have our biological fathers information.
That's weird that ours were different :s lol

Definately Jo. We weren't asked the details of our parents until 10 minutes before the ceremony

We had to fill our information in months in advance. Maybe it's different for church weddings?

You can have step fathers name entered if he is married to your mum. This applies to all weddings - It's not different for church weddings but if you married in Church of England the vicar in particular may not have been aware in the change in law x

both me and my partner will be having our step fathers name on ours :-)
as our step dads raised us since we was babies. mine is also giving me away, and both our step fathers are our witnesses as they will also get to sign them to make it extra special :-) x
